This will probably sound weird, but I used to have a few songs from the anime series "Revolutionary Girl Utena" on my computer. One was from a musical where Utena was singing about how she wanted to be a prince. I was looking for more Japanese music because I had started to get into it through anime, and I stumbled upon a site listing the top 10 songs in Japan at the time. Number 1 was Ayu's "Seasons". I downloaded it, and I thought that her voice sounded like Utena's voice. I could imagine Utena singing it, lol. Anyway I thought the song was very pretty, and I downloaded the "rays of light" remix soon after, as well as two remixes of Boys and Girls and Far Away which I did not realize where remixes at the time.

I didn't download anything else, really...I decided to order A Best online. I began to see how huge a star Ayu was. I was convinced there was a reason for it, so I wanted to buy an album.

i thought that she was very unique
her songs was catchy and her voice was unique
my first impressions not from her looks but from her musicality
after that i really think that she was very perfect

I had just gave up on music after becoming worn out by Britney Spears.
I was searching for someone new to like, when I heard of a girl named Ayumi Hamasaki. I downloaded a few songs (ever free, seasons, trauma) and not only was her voice fresh and new, but the emotion she put into each song was limitless, not to mention the amazing compositions. I had never heard pop music better than that. Now here I am. :|

When I heard a song from her, it happened to be Dearest, and I didn't like her at all. I started liking her look and started to listen to her "rockier" songs and then I started to fall in love with her. ^^

i liked her since her 2000. but i definitely heard of "ayumi hamasaki" before that. my first impression of her was that she was acting cutesy and jus another ordinary japanese singer.. until she had the leopard image for Duty that made me realise how much she was doing as a singer and was impressed.

Wow! Evolution seems to be the top "first song" XD

Same goes for me! My brother had gotten into Jpop and had evolution, boys and girls, M and Dearest PVs. I watched them once and thought they were good, but then my friend told me that she was a selfish-spoilt-stuck-up ***** and the image stayed with me until I went to Japan and saw STEP you

So my first impression was a good one, but not strong. My second impression ruined Ayu for me, but my third amazed me completely

I think it's because evolution was widely known in the anime community due to AMVs and some promotion for this one 'evolution' gaming tournament.. XD

It's amazing. Most people get into Ayu from Dearest or evolution.. :3

Me..I found her voice different and like a very little cute anime girl, when I got her A clips 1 and 2 and watch her video I immediately like her..but then in some videos I started to hate her...so it was love and hate lol then I saw her first live tour and I was O_O omg this girl cant sing really! how can her fans be there and be happy? I would be deaf if I were there!! but then it became love =P

That was my first Ayumi song, and I really liked it! Hey, it's pretty cool that it was my first and is still my all-time favorite.

My first impression was no big deal, and it still is. I mean, I know she does a lot, but in the end, I still see her as another popstar.

I'll definetely have to try it once I'm off this no new J-pop for a year thing (I'm doing it on my own, no parental restrictions).

In 2005, my mate sent me STEP you and at first, i liked it, then i started to get over it so i looked for more songs. I downloaded Trauma next, i thought it was good and then I just started downloading more and more and started liking her more. So my first impressions was, shes good.

Back in December i decided to try and download some asian music, I had heard the name Ayumi Hamasaki before so I decided to download and see what we get. I downloaded all her albums and i started in order, First was A Song For XX, i thought it was pretty good, it was a relatively slow paced album i thought, but when I listened to LOVEppears i was instantly hooked with Fly High, Boys & Girls, Whatever. Since then I haven't been dissappointed with anything Ayu has done.

I think this is partly because like.. you LOVE Bjork.. and she's crazy. People rant about how she's like, the musical genius of FOREVER. XD I wonder what you think of Mika and Ai.. O_O;

The first impression i got of Ayumi was last year in December.In a other forum i got to there was alot of talk about Ayumi,and i thought i would have a look and see what all this talk is about.So i went to youtube and watched Inspire.I LOVED IT.That day i would of watched it atleast 10 times.So then i checked out other songs and loved them and found this web site and done research of Ayumi on the net and now i am a huge fan.
