^ I hope they don't dump her either, since I imagine she'd be devastated, given how hard it is to relocate to a new country and start an entirely new career. I just think they need to take her music in a new direction...slow down her releases a little, and make sure she has a full grasp on what she's doing before being made to do it.

I maybe be cynical, but I think she cried just to get attention or whatever.

It's not like she was a serious performer at kouhaku anyways, she was just part of the somekind of warm-up/comedic act with other idol "singer" types.

I think she mentioned on her blog that she has a new single in the works? hope it's as good as softly or Koi Shiyo

They wouldn't dump her, I'm almost certain she's the most profitable artist Victor Entertainment has right now.

Yeah VE isn't exactly a record label who has a load of high selling artists anyway. Anyway if her musical career fails she'll just be a model since she already has gotten a lot of attention there.

I don't know, it seemed like Shokotan got so big of a boost out of Leah's failure that she rocked it. [Or maybe I was just so happy to hear some good vocals after the disaster...]
Leah's performance was squeezed between two cool performances, which made her performance even worst than it already was. AKB48 was huge considering the fact that they have a lot of members. Shokotan rocked, period. Her performance wasn't much, but it was damn good to make me a fan of hers with that 2 minutes performance. Leah just left me with the impression that she shouldn't be there, period.

I think they should've make Leah study Japanese longer and make her an actress instead of a singer. I'm sure she would have much more deserved success.

To be honest, I think if her Japanese weren't half as bad as it is now, she would have an easier time. There are probably J-pop artists who are just as bad as she is, but I think her initial success made it seem like she was only successful because of her image, and not anything else.

Okay, that made no sense what so ever.

I thought Leah's performance was ok. I'm not into the idol group thing so the AKB48 wasn't good imo, and that Shokotan was not much of a singer either. her shortcomings weren't just as obvious because her shouting matched her song.

she's definitely a biggest mainstream celeb out of the three. sucks for her having to grouped on kouhaku with them

there's noway Leah can be dropped. she's extremely succesful, not many models can succeed in gravure , fashion , mainstream tv and music. and leah has been very succesful in all of those, even in the music she's selling above average.

^ Eh. Leah sounded horrible. She was struggling to reach her notes through the whole song.

AKB48 was probably the only reason that made her have a rating that is above average in Kouhaku.

Well, we can't be judgemental about her when we like a singer who posed topless on her single cover!

(you should have made that a spoiler. The mods might take that picture down.)

I guess you're right. But at least Ayu didn't grabbed her boobs on the "LOVEppears" cover. That's much trashier.

basically yes, except they are called "gravure" models in Japan. import modeling is sorta trashy anyways, it's like a step up from doing nude but a step down from doing mens magazines like maxim etc...

Leah always struggles to sing properly, but I didn't think her Kouhaku performance was that bad. I don't think she's ever done a considerably better live of Koi Shiyou ...

I really don't see what's the problem with her performance. She sounded like how she sounded in the studio version which IMO is good. Yea, she messed a little on her notes but that's not enough to say she performed badly. She doesn't have a perfect voice but that's okay because none of our idols are perfect. Ayu couldn't remember her lines (Bad!), Hikki was literally screaming when she was singing her UB songs at UU06, Kumiko -I never thought she was a great nor good singer-, is very crappy high note holder.

I hope I made a good point about that!

^ Well. I think Ayu, Koda and Hikki CAN sing really well. And they can pull it off well live. Leah sounds awful in the studio recordings, and she sounds even worst live. That's why I think she did terribly on Kouhaku. The outfit didn't help, lol.

If the outfit didn't try to be revealing, it would be okay. Like a gothic lolita dress or something, actually make it look better. But the fact that it was a two piece made her look like she was trying to look sexy but didn't work.
