I'm slightly confused at one thing: people say Avex suspended her, but on the Tokyo Graph article it says "self-suspension", as in maybe she's removing herself from the spotlight to save-face and let the situation simmer down a little before making more public appearances.

I'd prefer to know specifically what the Japanese consensus thinks, because our values are surely not the same as theirs, and therefore to us it's not a big deal.

I think self-suspension means that it's because SHE brought it upon herself :/

I thought it was funny, honestly. So if Ayu is the Madonna of Japan, is Kuu the Jessica Simpson?

If people took the time to understand the culture of Japan a little bit better, then all these scandals would make a lot more sense.

Frankly, people should stop seeing the rest of the world solely through the prisms of their own cultures.

What do you think about it?

I thinks its so stupid she is suspended the rest of the month from promotion and whatnot.

Its not even that big of a deal.

YOU COULD CHANGE THE LINK FOR THIS ONE-->

did she actually said "rotten amniotic liquid"? if she did so, she should have waited for 10 seconds before uttering that sentence!

suspension... omg, then it must have been really hard commentary. If it has been, i think suspension is ok. but again, i cannot judge as i do not exactly what she said... it looks so odd to me!

edit: oh, it seems she's really concerned of what has happened. i think it will be better to let some time pass...

There IS a REAL problem that rises in women who reach over 35 years old and pregnancy. I believe koda referred to that. She used the wrong explanation though, the amniotic fluid doesn't go rotten. After 35 years, the women eggs start to get old, since all women eggs exist ever since they're an embryo. After 35 years, the eggs go through faulty cell divisions and the risk for having babies with down syndrome and other chromossomic diseases start to rise after every passing year.

Maybe she just didn't use the right words, but I understand she definitely referred to that fact.

good that this is explained. Maybe add this to post #1 so everyone entering the thread can see what was said exactly, cos there was some confusion

If she apologises and says she didn't mean it how she actually literally said it I think things'll be fine? Cos even Japanese cannot deny ^ that fact

i think she need to watch her mouth carefully, if you already being a role model in japan, i think you need to really choose carefully every words that you use...
for me if she make a simple apology, everything will be ok
but i don't know what japan want from her

This is something that I understand, but also feels quite ridiculous at the same time. Living in a culture with (sort of) open speech, I dun really think kuu's comment is that a big deal. I just think she's simply no brain on this statement. However, I do know that saying this kind of thing in Japan is considered impolite (esp from a woman... yeah females in Japan gotta be really polite).

What shock me is that this can lead to a suspension. Is this comment as severe as abe natsumi's plagiarism? To me I thin abe's one should be more severe, but it seems like the Japanese don't think the same.
