There's a pretty large asian community around here, but it's mostly Chinese and Korean music that's popular.

Well, living here in Honolulu there seems to be a much larger amount of people who like J-Pop. However, back at home in Massachusetts, barely anyone likes it besides me. It's pretty much me, and any of my friends that I've tried to convert.

Hawaii, IMO, is about a 40/60 chance. Many of my friends like it second best to their American music, and many also tolerate it when I have it on. I was able to pretty much convert a few though to a greater majority of actual music (other than drama and anime themes). I think there are very few like me though, where they actually keep up with everything and listen to it a majority of the time.

We finally got a Japanese FM station, too. Although it's not 24/7, it's a start.

Nee, Bondingo, you heard of 101.1?

my middle sister was the 1 who got me interested in jpop cos I was looking for something more interesting & kinda original to listen to instead of the usual rubbish that I hear on radio .

JPop & Anime are popular in S'pore to a certain extent .

Not popular at all, sadly .____.

In Japanese music only Visual kei and Oshare are kinda popular in here,
but just as an underground movement or somekind of teenage trend

Nobody here listens to, or even knows about, J-Pop, except for the foreign exchange students from school. I usually talk to them about J-Pop.

Eeehhh, the only people in my area that listen to ANY kind of Japanese music are the people who like anime, but they only listen to anime music. I know a few people who listen to J-music (mostly pop), and one who listens to solely J-rock (with the exception of Ayu). I'd have to say 95% of the people I know in my area listen to American R&B / rap / hip-hop.

With the majority of the Asian artists I listen to, all their names are written out in their respective languages (Japanese, Chinese, etc), so when people look at my iPod, they're always, like, "IS THIS CHINESE?" or "CAN YOU READ THIS?"

I don't think it's very big in the city I live in, but I commute to San Francisco for school and I'm pretty sure it's more well known there.

I met new people from my work... about 40% are anime fans and hence j-pop
But if you want among my friends, only 15% are j-pop conscious due to anime too

Thanks to anime, at least Jpop artists can widen their fanbase.
