Ever since NEXT LEVEL came out, specifically in the NEXT LEVEL PV, Ayu has looked SOSOSO different. Her nose is WEIRD and her eyes are WEIRD. She doesn't look like Ayu at all! And in those recent magazine pics, I can't even stand to look at her!

I'm pretty sure shes under a lot of pressure from AVEX, but yea, she looks soo stressed.

I was thinking that if she does take a break, that would leave all of her work team without work.

EDIT: I would love to know if WE could let ayumi know that we are not liking that shes working with this guy, and also that she HAS to take a break, not a week or two, at least 6 months or something. Maybe the moderators of this forum could write a letter to the Teamayu so she could read it, and we should all "sign" it. This forum is pretty big, so I think that we surely could do it.

Yea, so true, if she ever takes a break, she'll create a mass unemployment... But the staff are assign to her by avex right?? Btw, I quite worried that ayu is actually following trend rather than setting her own.... Oh ayu, I really miss the 2000-2003 era, really...

Surely all her staff is from AVEX, but if they do not have the income from her concerts, they couldn't afford paying all of them (?) Maybe if they work with/for other singer meanwhile ayu is having the break of her life.
Travelling around the World, meeting new people, spending her money in something useful, meeting guys (^^), getting inspired by things that she might see around, because of course the "plastic" life that shes having is not helping her mentally and its reflected on her work, these and many other reasons that we could think of... she needs a break soooo badly.

For god sake! Will people really keep acting this childish until the man's death? Can you really keep blaming him for bad photos?
I really like his works, and even if I didn't, I would still hate seeing people be like this. Everyone focuses on his bad photos, never his good ones, because well - it can't just be his and ayu's style to make those "horrible" pics, right? It's all his fault, it's all things that couldn't happen with another photographer, and yeah! It's really because he hates her, I see! He should make ayu stand like this instead!!!

And you said you wouldn't be bad about THAT? Can't we just conclude that this is a forum where we talk about what we hate about ayu, we bash everything that isn't perfect, and wish for her little-innocent-teen style to get back. But it just doesn't happen, CRY BABY, CRY!!!!!

Really, I get so MAD when I see people can really put so much energy in finding out why ayu does something, her fans doesn't like. Have you ever thought of this: ayu does normally have a lot to do with her releases, concerts and so on. Have you every thought the thought, that maybe ayu likes those photos? Then let's just HATE her for having another opinion about this photographer!

I really don't hate Shimoko (Ayu's nickname for her photographer), there are times he hits and misses.

The Sparkle PV just did the right thing but MW and GREEN was too much.

On Kuu-chan's side, I really love the 3 SPLASH covers!
I like the Pink one, the one with bowling ball!

And the art style used to it is really good and the expressions are really fit to her.

Thank you! I was worried I was going to be flamed or at the very least disagreed with. I'm shocked at how people cannot see her major recent changes. I can't exactly pin point when this began but I think after Guilty, sometime during A COMPLETE, and from the singles tied with NEXT LEVEL (perhaps that's what she means by NEXT LEVEL?). The old Ayu face is gone forever... and I will have to disagree with whoever says she just looks "tired". It's not the look of fatigue, because being tired does not make your nose thinner and more "cookie cutter barbie like". Ayu's nose up till Jewel still looked very natural and had a few imperfections, which I loved! Just look up at the AHS blue haired Ayu image. Lately she's been mad tweaking her whole face, face line, maybe even lips. She seems like she's drowning... worrying about her looks. I *HOPE* she doesn't change anymore...

Ya know, this is coming from someone who's always defended Ayu against people who accuse of her of being completely fake and plastic. I enjoy watching her IDOL era works and have always felt her facial changes were minor compared to the Ayu circa "A Song for XX" till "I am..." or maybe even till "My Story". But her recent face... WOW. that nose... ugh! The latest VIVI issue is disturbing... I hope it's photoshop. The nose is so pointy it's almost comical.

Although Ayu has been weird lately, I don't think it's by Kazu's influence. It's like Ayu's been trying to "find" a new self, and likes Kazu's style so she chose him. They seem to get along very well. He always makes Ayu laugh. He's also very suck-up-ish. Like in the makings he is always "OMG YOU'RE SO PRETTY!!!" or "PERFECT SHOT (comically enthusiastically)". It's great to have him around when you're not sure of yourself I think...

LOL! Kazu reminds me of an "eunuch" from Ancient China who gets really close to the Emperor and gains power.

I don't necessarily loathe or hate Kazu, because he seems like a decent person... *SEEMS*... lol. He shot the Dior photoshoot with Ayu, and in the making he and Ayu are hilarious when they did Madonna style "Vogue" dance poses for the camera.

I agree with you..she seemed to look completely different. I would say her eyes especially. Sometimes when new shots are out, I will be like 'this is ayu? so not like her..'

If you are using the blue version of this site, and you can see the blue hair ayu at the top, then look at that one, and look at Mirrorcle World covers. They are the same nose.. sorry.. ahaha.

The makeup patterns she is using has changed these years, and she is always using circle lens now, which changes the way her face looks~~
She is the same Ayumi, dont worry.. ahaha.

Okay... but if you read what I said, I said specifically with the NEXT LEVEL PV her nose looked different... and NEXT LEVEL was a whole year after Mirrorcle World.

And I really doubt that using circle lenses completely changed the way her nose looks?

I like some of his work. Mainly covers. Many seem to hate "NEXT LEVEL" covers, but I like them. And the booklet, too. I just feel there's too little pics of ayu in there. lol But I like the overall theme. It fits with the style of some of the songs.
And I forgot to mention in my previous post that I don't get how ayu could approve the "Sunrise/Sunset" covers. I doubt Shimomura gave them to avex or whoever without consolting her. Maybe the actual covers, as in seeing the single, look better, though.

actually I will have to disagree with you. I have the original pic (I believe it's the A Song is Born single?) and the AHS blue pic has had photoshop to eliminate the shadows around her nostrils. The Ayu nose from this pic has a greater "nostril flare" and the tip is noticeably more fleshy and bulbous, compared to the Mirrorcle World cover. However, "still" pics are bad for comparison, because of lighting and photoshop, I would suggest watching live video where you can see her nose from a variety of light sources.

I can't believe I'm saying this... I feel like such an Ayu traitor, lol.

Hmmm, I understand where the changes you're pointing out are. I also know that Ayu doesn't ever think she's "tired". At least she can't be "tired" now, if she's been okay through a much more hectic schedule in her previous years. The only time I can say she really looked tired was sometime during the A BEST era and also sometime in the middle of 2004-- for some reason she looked tired when she did lives sometime during that year.

However, I must say that these changes can simply be attributed to photoshop use (every time the amount of airbrushing on her nose differs) and also change in makeup style. Ayu goes through "phases" of makeup. She looks slightly different every time she goes for a different style. I don't think I can simply blame her facial changes on Ayu physically "changing" her face (i.e. by surgery or other medical methods.) Also, whenever Ayu gains or loses weight, you can see the changes in her face as well. Ayu's face is slightly rounder when she gains weight. Right now she's just in her thinner phase.

I suppose we'll just have to wait and see when Ayu's face changes again.

I'm one of those fans who firmly believe Ayu hasn't had surgery.

And about Kazu, I highly doubt he hates Ayu.

To be honest, I think he expects the same thing from each artist he works with. That is-- for them to look very diva-ish in their photoshoots. This look works better for some, but not so much for others. A good example would be how "fish-lips" and the opened-mouth with teeth showing look-- these totally work on Koda Kumi. But, they don't work nearly as well on Ayu.

There are pics I don't like from Kazuyoshi for both ayu and koda... You can't claim that someone hates another person ,just by your opinion on his work because they're different. If he hated Ayu why would he work for her. Get over the fact that this wasn't ayu's best shoot already. It's not even That bad.

About her "liking" his bad photos... maybe she likes a few, but I highly doubt she even likes the Sunrise/Sunset covers. Ayu isn't a professional photographer who understands picture composition and all that, but she isn't blind. If she looks fug I'm sure she'll choose another photo or something. And yeah I think the biggest issue here is that

1) he's a hit & miss person. Perhaps it's better to work with once every 5 years or something... rather than working with him for like EVERYTHING.

2) What he wants from his models don't fit all of his models. Like what some of you have mentioned, Kuu CAN pull the fish lips, but Ayu can't. That's a fact. Though I wonder why Kuu still can have emotions on her face in the 3 SPLASH covers, while Ayu just looks dead and emotionless in the Sunrise/Sunset covers...

I think photographers, etc. work differently with different people. Kumi != Ayu. When Ayu and Kazu work together, it results in gay drag queen diva look (ew). When Kumi and Kazu work together, not always. You just don't really know how Kumi and Ayu behave on set. For certain they aren't the same person. Kumi is more out-going and I see her more easily giving her own input.

I'm sure that if Ayu didn't like her pictures she would have been able to change it. I mean, looking at how big of an artist she is, she has a HUGE say as to what she wants to be done.
so if she thought the covers were that bad,that it would do something like distract people from her music(The thing that really matters). We wouldn't be looking at these covers. If you hate the cover so much get a new one.

@Pink: Because it's really hard to believe that someone who can take beautiful shots can take disgusting photos as well. Which is why I wouldn't say it was him who made those photos beautiful... more like Ayu made the right facial expression by chance, or in the right moment, so that we wouldn't get a "hey I'm in the middle of preparing a pose!" cover...

But again, maybe he was having a hungover on the day he shot Sunrise/Sunset. But again, 9/10 of his Ayu photos are bad, so unless he drinks almost every day, if not...

^ You are right, I covered this in a previous post... then I know Ayu wouldn't choose such fugly photos to be single covers; even with Kazu, she chooses the BEST shots for her covers. So, for this photo shoot, I feel as though every other photo must have been worse than the covers themselves... (Sunrise/Sunset), which is saddening, cos he's getting paid after all; he shouldn't be allowed for such a sub-standard work.
