I completely agree with you. It's like people lumping music that is dated before the 20th century as all "Classical". It can be an umbrella term, but the music does not all "sound the same".

Definitely applies to Ayu's music as well. There is an overall vibe that her summer singles may sound the same, but of course it would be so because the songs are from one singer and her tone quality in the way she sings an upbeat song may not be that different. Not to be rude or anything, but I also believe that not understanding the language may cause those who don't understand the inability to capture how the differences in the instrumental music reinforce the meaning of the lyrics.

yep. My first Ayu songs was Daybreak and NEVER EVER. I started to love them just because in the begining they sounded VERY THE same to me. But now i see how many diffrence are between them, even they're mainly from the same Ayu-kind. You can even generate them as something. I can't.

The only thing I think it sound the same for me is
MY ALL - RED LINE

and A song for xx but with little exception. But! if someone would ask me "Of what song you think when you hear the album name?" I would totally say: Trust It was my first Ayu song from Asfxx and it's not even my favorite, but i imagine it always like a fairytale and it feels so diffrent from the rest. But maybe because it was my first i think.

Imo, those two songs have really powerful lyrics and I love both the songs so much, yes they might have similar beats up to some point, but no, MY ALL is more upbeat and poppish...

fairyland/BLUE BIRD/glitter are all completely different songs and elicit completely different emotions from me... Though I do understand that HAL has a tendency to use similar synthesizers/programming in all of their arrangements.

fairyland sounds really melancholic throughout, maybe until the key change at the end. I love BLUE BIRD because it has a great contrast between the calming verses and the rush of energy/flight in the chorus. glitter is the opposite (energetic verses/calming chorus)

Anyway, the sending mail preview is growing on me a little. It sounds like the lovechild of SIGNAL and Mirrorcle World.

i think red line/life/my all. omg yall! it's time to whip out my audio sample that i never used to show how they sound similar. my all red line life obviously not extremely similar, but if they were all put on the same album, you can bet your ass people would be saying how similar they all are.
