Arashi Kohaku Special Interview and Spin-off to be broadcasted on January 14th

“The 63rd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen”, recorded at the end of last year, will reproduce now a special talk show spin-off featuring popular group Arashi, entitled “To you guys in the future ～Listen to Arashi! A message from our life seniors～ (Tentative)” (NHK).

In this project they will interview people they admire, Aiba Masaki with Astronaut Hoshide Akihiko, Ohno Satoshi with Artist Kusama Yayoi, Sakurai Sho with Physician Hinohara Shigeaki, Ninomiya Kazunari with Movie Director Yamada Yoji also Matsumoto Jun with Kabuki actor Tamasaburo. Making a 1-hour-long round of conversations.

Featuring also photos of their participation Kohaku and some details of the segment “Furusato e no Omoi”. The subject of this special broadcast is “a message to young people in the future”. The said special will air on January 13th (NHK/24:15) or January 14th (NHK/0:15). Please do not forget to check it!

Arashi Makes History with 7 Million DVDs Sold

It was earlier reported that Arashi’s “AraFes” DVD sold 624,000 copies, making them 1st in Oricon’s Weekly DVD ranking from Dec 24th- 31st period. For the second week, the group sold an additional 55,000 DVD copies, making their total sales to 678,000; thus, taking the top spot for the 2nd consecutive week.

By adding this figures, Arashi has sold a total of 7,057,000 DVD copies (since 2009), making them the no.1 in “Total DVD sales by an artist”. Arashi now has a 4.3 million gap with Morning Musume, holder of the 2nd spot in the said ranking.

Lastly, “AraFes” has sold 624,000 for 1st week, which gives it the top spot in 1st week DVD sales ranking since the ranking started last 1999. Arashi now monopolized the first 6 of “first week DVD sales ranking”.

Aiba Masaki in his first role as physician, “I want to show a cool side of me”

On January 10th, Arashi member Aiba Masaki and the cast of “Last Hope” (FujiTV) held a stage greeting before the premiere in Omotesando Hills, Tokyo. The said drama will start on January 15th at 9PM. Aiba appeared in a white coat according to his role. Both the announcer and moderator praised him saying he looked “cool” and “kakkoi”. “Right? I came with confidence”, replied a smiling Aiba, “I want to show I have that side too in 2013″.

In order to prepare for his role, Aiba hangs his stethoscope on his neck all the way to home and also has heard CD of heart sounds; “The other night I heard a pounding and I immediately stopped cause I got too scared”. Also I had to line up a lot of Kanji and read them one by one to remember my lines.

The theme song of this drama will be Arashi’s new single “Calling” (March 6th). “It’s a song that has catchy lyrics with the theme of hope, I think it’ll become a rock number. I don’t get that many solo parts in Arashi songs but this time I want to sing with a fresh feeling”, he appealed to us. “This is the beginning of our 30s. I was really happy when I was offered to participate in this drama. I want to do my best as a member of Arashi and because we have a lot of people supporting us, I plan to enjoy it to the fullest”.

To celebrate the broadcast of the drama, during 15 days since January 10th to January 24th, “Last Hope Illumination” will be displayed in Omotesado. Approximately 250,000 gold champagne LED with the title of the drama hope to simulate a sunset.

"Calling" will be the themesong for FujiTV's drama "Last Hope" that starts on Jan.15, starring member Aiba Masaki. It is a rock tune with a strong message of equality in life and hope, and the other song "Breathless" will be a mysterious song about the abyss in the human mind, and it will be an aggressive dance number. There will also be a big tie-up.

Arashi have achieved their 3rd consecutive week at the top of both music-DVD and overall DVD charts simultaneously with their live DVD, "ARASHI ARAFES." This is the first time for an artist to reach no.1 in the DVD chart for 3 weeks in a row since Oricon started including DVDs in 1999. As for music-DVD, the last time an artist topped the chart for 3 consecutive weeks was 2 years and 8 months ago with Mr.Children's "Mr.Children DOME TOUR 2009 ~SUPERMARKET FANTASY~ IN TOKYO" (May 2010). Arashi to Release New Single "Calling / Breathless" in March!

It has been announced that Arashi will be releasing their new double A-side single "Calling / Breathless" on March 6th this year. It has been roughly five months since their last release "Popcorn".

The titled track "Calling" is currently being aired as the theme song for the new TV drama "LAST HOPE", which is starring Aiba Masaki in the lead role. The program airs every Tuesday on Fuji TV at 9:00pm Japanese time.

"The theme song has the same topic as the series which is [Life] and [Hope], yet the chorus is a catchy rock tune. It's something I hadn't yet sung with Arashi", Aiba said with regard to the song. "I think it matches the drama really well."

The song "Breathless" on the other hand is a more aggressive dance number, strongly contrasting the title track.

omg i'm so excited for this new single! especially since it's a double a-side. that just makes this release even better.

i like both a-side titles, and the preview for "Calling" is awesome! it sounds really good so far. and i'm really looking forward to hearing 'Breathless" now after reading it's gonna be a dance number. i totally can't wait for this single!
