Here's a cute interview Amy Lee had of her marriage and her music:

I understand the band's new single, 'Good Enough,' was written about your husband. Was this before the two of you were together?

Well, we met when I was, like, eighteen years old, but we didn't keep in touch very well, and he always just made an effort to find my number from a friend or whatever. When I first met him, I totally had a huge crush on him, but I was in another relationship, and I didn't address it and tried to push it down. But it's funny because it's just like nature -- it's just meant to be.Years later, I got out of a hard relationship with a difficult breakup and was so not ready for another relationship He called me like the next week or the next month and was like, "Hey, we should hang out. I'm in town." We had been living across the country from each other. So I met him at this party, knowing that it was dangerous, and I wrote the song two weeks later. I waited until it was done then I played it for him. I knew I would be really nervous -- way more nervous than playing in front a huge crowd. He loved it.
...

Do you remember the first song that you ever wrote?

I think so. I don't know which one counts, because at first I thought I wanted to be a classical composer, so there's one called 'Eternity of the Remorse.' It's really depressing and very dramatic [laughs]. I have the sheet written out from when I was, like, eleven. But then the first real song, I wrote for English class in the eigth grade. We either had to write a short story or a song. I was like, "I'm gonna do something nobody else is doing." And I wrote this song and recorded it on a cassette tape, playing guitar and singing with a friend of mine from choir who did backup vocals. It was strange to me and I kinda became obsessed with it because remembering who I was, I was like the quite girl in the corner and then I played the tape and everybody was freaking out. My teacher showed it to all the classes. It was a really cheesy song. It was called 'A Single Tear' ... "will linger here inside me forever." Seriously, it was so bad, but for an eighth grader they thought it was pretty impressive.
...
features an acoustic preformance of Good Enough. The rest of the interview can be found at the
source

EDIT:
I was kinda mad I missed this, but its on YT so, whatever.

I think Evanescence is really good, but I don't really love gothicbands... I'm more happy than dark... but I respect Evanescence, cause the band's songs are soo great!

what I love about Evanescence is how they can combine beautiful music and rock. Like Lacrymosa. Requim has been my favorite piece of classical music, combined with her vocals and awesome guitar it was magic. I love their early works, and you can see how much the band has changed in this one. I used to not like this album (TOD) because it was a change, but now there's something real about it. Something real and vulnerable, and human especially in songs like Snow White Queen, Like You, and Good Enough

Their music is easy to relate too. Especially in songs like Good Enough

Evanescence is more mainstream goth. Not real goth (it's too pretty). I have a lot of respect for them because their first album was great. That was, until the guy who actually wrote all the songs left, and then their music just went...a better word then bad? Corny? Poppish rock?

Has anybody seen their 2007 Preformance in Pink Pop? I haven't seen it but I downloaded the audio and they sound great. I love how they blended some of Fallen with The Open Door. Evanescence hasn't bee in Pink Pop since 2003 which was an amazing preformance, Amy's vocals were spot on. Now she seems a bit a deeper, but if you love Fallen its a great concert to see. She also brings out one of her older songs (Even in Death).

Anyway, I downloaded the audio of Pink Pop '07 and I love it. Though, I'm cool with the new music they brought out in The Open Door. Fallen is still my favorite era and it will always be my favorite. I'm currently searching for more audio rips from earlier pre-TOD preformances. (I have all the EPs before Fallen so I might as well go to preformances)

PS: did anybody else know that there was a secret egg in the Anywhere But Home DVD? according to wiki it leads you to an extra preformance of Bring Me to Life in Nevada. I'm gonna check it out after I get my physics finished...

PS: is there any news for when another Live DVD will come out? Have they finished touring in Europe?

6/19 Amy Lee Awarded Songwriter Icon Award

Finally, an update on the Evanescence Website. There hasn't been one since Feb. D:

Amy Lee was given the 2008 Songwriter Icon award by the NMPA (Nation Music Publishers Association) at the annual NMPA meeting. The Icon award recognizes outstanding songwriters for their personal achievement and is presented to those who personify the vision of the NMPA and the goals of its members.
good for her. Has any one seen any of her 2007 - 2008 preformances? I've downloaded the audio for some and her voice fluctuates sometimes. Almost like she's singing herself hoarse in some places and her voice doesn't have the dexterity it used to have. Some of the fans have noticed to (some in a notso nice way) Has anybody else noticed?

Also, recently she's been including songs that were never on her tracklist. Like in Meadowlands last year, they played Understanding and Missing. I was so pysched. Maybe she'll start playing even more of her pre-fallen songs. I'd love to see what she'd do with them now.

Evanescence in the studio working on new album

Okay, it's been forever, but Evanescence has been in the studio for several months working on a reported 19 tracks for their new album (hopefully) to be released October 4th of this year. Amy Lee and other band members have been blowing up their twitvid with videos of them working in the studio.

Man, this thread is old. Should I make a new one?
