I don't really care for streaks anymore (of course I would be happy if ayu's releases could continue to get it) and I don't think that ayu herself really cares about it anyway (hence why she doesn't release the most mainstream songs and just goes with whatever she wants).

In my case, It doesn't matter if Ayu will never had those #1 streaks or not because I care the most is her lyrical content.
I know its hard for us(and for me) to accept this bad reality, but we should. No matter what happens, we should continuously support Ayu for her true and good music. Period. That is the most important thing for me as of now... not the charts. Its just numbers guys. Why we are scared of?

I forgot who said that she should release only every now and then like Utada, but... Utada's single sales aren't that good either. Since 2005 her singles have hardly sold more than 70k in the first week, while Ayu has been keeping #1 singles for years. I dunno why this single will get #2, though. It has two versions, huge posters, first press sleeves and four different songs! Wtf? Off-topic: How did Utada's First Love album become the most sold album ever? It didn't really have any #1 singles lol. |

Because there is always surprises throughout lives. I could always imagine that an unknown new artist would probly knock ayu off weekly no. 1 one day. It seems like finally this imagination come into reality.
Well.. hikki's physical sales is weak at this moment, but her digital sales are really strong. Ayu's sales are considered weak rite now in both physical and digital. I'm not sure tho if ayu's sales will increase if she releases like how hikki does now. Quote:

I mean, we need to care less about her #1 and more about the reason why she's in this freaking business in the first freaking place: M.U.S.I.C. |

True... We became fans cause of her music and not her no. 1 streak.

Remember people she'll only lose her consecutive streak. She still has the most no.1 singles for a female artist total. I hope that if she loses this streak she'll make better music next time (not that IMO it's possible 'cause I love this single to death but still XD).

Well riozz, probly your're still too young to understand that if something must go, you have to let it go. (Btw, I'm not saying that only older people understand that... probly you understand about it at your age). I'm sure that most of us do care about the No. 1 streak thing. Afterall, this is one of ayu's prides in the music industry. However, everyone knows that this will be gone one day no matter what (unless ayu announces about retirement after getting her last no. 1, but we dun see ayu have this thought).
I hope you dun feel offense by my words.. I'm just tryin' to say that as life goes on and you encounter more experience, you will know what to give up, what not to.. Afterall, this no. 1 streak concept is probly just a mirage. People may not really care about that 50 years later anywayz. Side note.. I think avex's trying to do something.. According to the Natsu style, here's what they will do during the weekend: (translated by excite, and I modified a bit... dunno if it's 100% correct tho...) Quote:
I dunno if this is a good thing or not.. to be given lots of gifts in order to sell the cds... Edit: Nope. Ayu has the most no. 1. Remember the official website posted a special opening after Startin'/Born To Be... getting no. 1?? That's the time when she officially became the most no. 1 singles female in Japan. Seiko has only 25 no. 1 singles, while ayu has 29.

oh and btw, didnt it take like..10 years or so for seiko's number 1 streak to be broken by ayu? i mean, ayu will still hold the record until someone beats her. and i cant think of any solo female artist that's next in line to take over the consecutive singles streak. (but i think boa is next in line to get the consecutive #1 albums streak ._.)
