I had a good laugh reading some of the posts about there being a lack of budget for this release, especially in regards to the PV for You were... at first, I admit I was just going "what the hell is going on here?" but after reading some of the interpretations (although some were just ridiculous... sometimes a teddy bear glove is just a teddy bear glove) it made more sense to me and I was able to appreciate it more. Not to mention, Ayu herself looks absolutely gorgeous although I wish different lighting was used to illuminate the crystals on her face and body instead of just making her look oily in the dim lighting. But perhaps the darkness was intentional to convey her state of mind.

To me, taking the time to create 2D trees and make sure all of them are illuminated in an indoor set would certainly be more time-consuming and expensive than to just dump a bunch of fake snow outside and film her there. I believe that this was deliberate. The pop-up storybook effect is powerful as the PV does show a story and the PV connects with the lyrics.

Anyway, this post will probably be ignored and will be followed by a bunch of comments how cheap it is, how boring the songs are, how bad her voice is, etc, but I just wanted to say something nice, and that I truly feel like this single is a job well done.

yea,i totally agree with you this is my favorite post! no matter what,for me the PV is soo beautiful and intense,you have to watch it by your heart and not just by your naked eye this is what i like about Ayu!

Now this might really get Ayu an advantage over Kanjani8! But how? I mean, this song is used for an NHK Saturday-afternoon daytime drama for the first half of the 2010 calendar year? This is sure going to be a staple for at least up until June, because this drama will not be over until that long, and it would really be close to the summer, so I think she might have a shot of it, all because of the early positive reviews here...

It kinda depends on the popularity of the drama as well. This drama seems to be for older people, and I don't really see them going all fangirl and rushing to the nearest record store to get a copy of the single lol.

BALLAD is so beautiful. I know some people wont like it because it's simple. But I lvoe it's simplicity. This is in stark contrast with the rockish ballad You were... Nicely arranged by Yuta Nakano (duh)

but people. just so you know, the promo CD rips made sometimes arnt still the best quality. The chorus didnt reach its best volume if you realize. It should stand out even more from the verses which are currently rather loud (hope people see this..coz it's what i've noticed from previous rips too). Nonetheless, I believe it's going to be dramatic!

I absolutely the opening. It's like a orchestral oriental ballad. I can actually picture a really sad PV for this (it feels like a war memorial ballad to me).

I hope the PV comes out next week..OR SOON. dang, the part of Me-ish vibe I get is so strong yet different at the same time as the song progresses. Orchestra is definitely Yuta Nakano's forte

I dun really like ayu making oriental songs (especially the ones w/ chinese feelings). Probly because my background is chinese, so I can't really get into ayu's chinese style song. It's quite an unmatch to her voice.

I prefer her songs with old Japanese style (e.g., part of Me) than songs like BALLAD.
