There is not even one song that stands out! D: The only good song is Mamoritai. The songs that can be ok are EASY and is this love and maybe Posibility Very weak, BoA... It's better if you should just let other producers to write your songs... :/

i figured she'd be at #2. it could be worse, so thankfully it's not. i'd still be satisfied with #2 weekly.

The album is not as bad as I thought it was going to be, but I still don't like it.

#2 with 14k officially.

I'm surprised it sold that much really... it's such a poor album...

I'd say it deserves those sales. I hope BoA's music just goes up from here, because it seems to have hit an all time low in quality, so hopefully it doesn't get any worse than this. I don't want to have to stop being her fan because she's one of the first J-pop singers I got into.. but really, this music is just terrible

Seriously I don't feel like she was trying. The songs on IDENTITY are messy and feel unpolished. She was the producer, she said "okay this is ready for release" as it is. How can she be trying if she did that?

BoA's probably going to wind up at #4 weekly....Kaela and Kumi will pull in much higher sales this week given that BoA drops like a rock....which should happen due to this album being crap. Random side note though, I really love the foil lettering on the album booklet. Very expensive looking.

Typical, I always have the opposite response as everyone else...

Honestly, I've never liked a single BoA album from beginning to end before, minus her American album. (Which is my fave) But I like this album. It's simple but still catchy.

What could they do? She didn't have a lot of time left. Her tour starts next week. Avex won't postpone tours for their higher earning artists so they won't do it for BoA. Not even if the album isn't exactly good. She has limited experience writing lyrics and composing. This is her first real try at doing this alone. It just needed more.

it's no excuse to release a mediocre product. she could have gotten more time if she wanted it, she's one of their more higher earning artists, and they're letting her produce it, so they're giving her way more freedom then usual, she could have gotten it if she wanted to, but she didn't.

I agree with GRACE. BoA needs to suck it up and just realize she's not cut out for producing.

I dunno if it's her producing that's the biggest problem, but definitely she shouldn't write music and produce it. The songs that have the most problems on the album are the ones she wrote. This Is Who I Am has one of the most awkward melodies I've EVER heard, and EASY is so messily thrown together I want to barf. Meanwhile, for example, LAZER is very well written, because it's written by VERBAL, someone who knows what he's doing.

She got more time. The album was pushed back from Jan 13. They released the album at the last possible moment to give her more time. I'm sure she tried her hardest to make it work. She doesn't have experience composing much. I think that she should do lyrics and then maybe co compose if she wants in the future. It's the accompanying music that makes the songs unmemorable. Ironically the dullest song on the album is my all and that wasn't composed by her at all.

This Is Who I Am has a pretty simple actually. Too simple because it's just the piano. Once it gets started, the piano repeats the same notes throughout the song. In fact you could sing 'This is who I am' x3 and then 'do re mi' and then repeat. It stops to punctuate her actually singing the words 'This Is Who I Am' but then goes back. The other instruments sound like they were put there to add backing to an uninspiring melody.

IA with EASY. It's a weird song with weird noises and weird singing with a drum beat. She clearly wanted something edgy with that song, but like you said it comes off messy and unfocused. She should work with Nao'ymt as her composer, but I don't think she can afford him.

He did Possibility :3

This Is Who I Am may have a simple composition, but the melody is incredibly awkward. Particularly the long held "CHAAAAAANGE" in the chorus (or whatever the word is supposed to be).

She usually released a japanese album per year, right?... And now she had more "time" (not counting her incursion into the american industry), she released her worst japanese album in my opinion, and sales reflex it so far... but lets wait to see how fast sales drop throughout the week
