Even the lightning painted on Gaga's face is a carbon-copy of Bowie.
And I wouldn't say "frightened" more than "annoyed" and "fed up".

And like I said before, people that look at this and think about no-one besides Gaga probably are too young to understand who really is a standard for pop culture and originality. That's my point, period.

This.
Ok well I highly doubt that it's coincidence that GaGa is inspired by Bowie and that period and then all of a sudden Ayu is inspired by that same period. This is a pointless argument because it seems people here on AHS would deny that this PV was inspired by GaGa even if Ayu herself said "YEAH I LOVE GAGA. SHE INSPIRES ME."

Besides, she didn't direct the PV. Maybe the director thought this would be a good thing for Ayu to try.

Being "creatively inspired" by and "copying" are two totally different things! Saying this looks GaGa is not bad-mouthing Ayu. So no need for everyone to get defensive. Lol. I must say when other comparisons to GaGa have come up, I too brushed them off. But this time it's literally right there.

I could care less where she got them from too. It's just irking me to no end how everyone is taking these Lady GaGa comparisons as bullets to Ayu's reputation.

Give me a break. She is creative. She may not be some ground-breaking, revolutionary muse, but even the things that have "been done before", she pulls off in her own way.

No matter where Ayu got these ideas I'm always happy with Ayu, her life, her courage, her strength, her lyrics etc. All that has made me feel stronger and has helped me through some of the absolute worst experiences and situations of my life. It's always inspired me and gave me the strength to get through everything. I think if i didn't have her I never would've made it through some very horrible things I experienced.

So i honestly could care less where she got the ideas from as long as she keeps being that hero and wonderful person we all know we wanna be ourselves.

you know, Ayu probably doesn't even know who Lady GaGa IS, her inspiration probably came from something or someone she actually listened to. Hell, it was more likely the director's inspiration, and Ayu just said "Hey, that's really cool!!" and okayed it...

:S I'm pretty sure Ayu does occasionally turn on the radio. And Lady GaGa's albums have been doing quite well in Japan... so it is doubtful that somebody within the music industry has yet to hear of a current phenomenon.

But again, I doubt Ayumi thought "Let's copy Lady Gaga!" I really don't see the problem with simply incorporating a bit of London-esque high fashion in her PVs. The music video industry has been around since the 1980s; you cannot have a completely unique music video each and every time. So, people should just learn to embrace individual representations of at times similar themes in these videos.

And like others have said, I really don't see being compared to Lady GaGa as a bad thing. They are both talented and sexy. Let them do their thing~

i honestly dont find lady gaga sexy whatsoever. her fashion is ugly and i was really turned off when she said that something about wanting to sleep with like every rock star. The only thing i admire about her is about how she stands by the gay/lesbian community.

Yeah, 'cause Ayu just started to put a spotlight on fashion in her PVs now, right. Jeez.

I don't think it was inspired by Gaga more than fashion itself and other fashionist artists, but who knows? Personally I think Ayu knows better than the latest hitmaker from US, but we can't know what she'd say about it.

I'm just fed up with people thinking Gaga invented something, and especially annoyed when they start comparing other artists to her, especially other artists that are in the business for like a gazillion years more than Gaga. It's like she's brainwashing people.

Great point here, though:

^yeah i can understand. Still, I've found people do this with whatever's the latest thing. I've seen it happen a million times by now. I usually just sit by and watch from the sidelines for the most part.

What i do find funny is when they say something is ripping off something else, when the thing theyre talking about came out before the other if you know what i mean.

uuugh trolls on youtube lol

oh well :3 I bet PVs will start airing next week, and we'll get an album CM at the end of this/beginning of next week. CM before the PVs air I'd think. I hope it has a preview from every PV like NEXT LEVEL, and not just a behind the scenes of something and some single tracks like (miss)understood's CM was (using (m)u as an example because of the similar amount of PVs)

I absolutely love Microphone. count down sounds wonderful, as well, and Lady Dynamite sounds really good, too! I want to like Sexy little things. I'm not sure whether I do or not yet. Half of me says it's really cool and the other half says it's embarrassing and frightening.

I like all the songs too! In my opinion count down is the worst song from the new album, from the previews we have heard. But i love Lady Dynamite and Sexy Little things, it is a bit next level album style don''t you think?

You know... that's a possibility. She didn't even know of Tohoshinki until the other day. They're from the same record label and selling way better than her in her own country and she didn't even know about them...

I listen a little part from the preview, and i can say Lady Dynamite rocks. i am so curious witch songs will be interludes. I think maybe montage, but i hope that would be a full song, the title soundes so cool.

Oh my gosh....
I apologize, I've got to write a mini-review for this, it's my first time being on AHS for an album release/following an Ayu album until release!
Count Down:
I really LOVE it. The slow, yet persistent rock... like a rock ballad. Same sort of style as criminal... the half ballad half rock song. Not BALLAD enough to put me to sleep, but just great stuff. Her vibrato is a very deep tone here, but not overused.
Lady Dynamite:
Picking up from where NEXT LEVEL left off... wow part electro, part rock. I actually really like it! The chorus/guitar riffs are great...
It's not my favorite, but it'll definitely grow on me. I like it enough to put on repeat.
Sexy Little Things:
Upon first listen, I was thinking "oh God, what's this...?" because it was so unexpected!
But it's definitely different. Electro Swing Pop is the right name for it... charming. The chorus is catchy and cute. I like it.
Bottom Line:
Microphone reigns Queen, but I love all four tracks so far! It has a very diverse style, but I but when I hear it all together it'll have great transitions. This album is so promising...
