Arashi’s Masaki Aiba DVD becomes first stage show DVD to top sales charts




Johnny’s group Arashi’s Masaki Aiba’s stage play has made its general DVD chart debut at number one, the first time a stage show has done so in Japanese DVD chart history, it was revealed on April 13, reports Oricon.

Aiba played the lead role in “君と見る千の夢 (Kimi to Miru Sen no Yume)”, which was performed at the Tokyo Globe theater in May 2010. The story follows his character who ends up in a coma following a road accident. Now as a spirit, he tracks back through the memories of his friends and girlfriend to try and find out how the accident happened.

The figures released by Oricon for their weekly DVD charts for April 18 have shown more than 45,000 copies of ”君と見る千の夢 (Kimi to Miru Sen no Yume)” were sold in its opening week, sending it to the top of the general DVD charts. Since DVD chart records began in 1999, it is the first time a stage show that is not a musical has made it to the top of the general charts.

Sho Sakurai puts his English skills to use at commercial shoot

Filming for two new TV commercials saw Arashi’s Sho Sakurai putting his English skills to use with staff members, reports Mainichi Shimbun Digital on April 15.

Sakurai has been shooting commercials for insurance company Aflac with his co-star, the Aflac duck puppet. The puppet is controlled by four Hollywood puppeteers. It has been reported Sakurai was able to communicate with the English-speaking staff on a number of occasions to help make sure the duck’s movements appeared natural.

One scene which required precise movements at the right time was when the Aflac duck turns around to look at Sakurai who is reading a book about cancer in a library. When the puppeteers asked their translator, “what’s our cue for when the puppet needs to turn around?”, Sakurai immediately answered, “(after the line) ‘オヤジすごいです(oyaji sugoi desu)’”. It has been reported other production staff at the shoot were impressed with Sakurai’s skills.

The new Aflac commercials will go on air in Japan from April 20.

Pianist Tsujii Nobuyuki composes theme song for Sho Sakurai’s upcoming movie

Pianist Tsujii Nobuyuki says the theme song to Sho Sakurai’s upcoming movie “神様のカルテ (Kami-sama no Karute)” was inspired by it’s producers and cast, reports Sankei Sports on April 15.

Nobuyuki rose to fame after becoming the first blind pianist to win the Val Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009. This is the first time he has worked on creating music for a feature film.

The movie centres on the human drama at a regional hospital where Sho Sakurai’s character works, supported by his wife, played by Aoi Miyazaki.

It has been reported Nobuyuki composed the theme song after reading the braille novel the movie is based on and meeting the cast and staff.

“My inspiration for this piece came from the words I heard from the director and cast members, and the mood around the set when I visited them during filming,” said Nobuyuki.

The soundtrack featuring the pianist’s piece will be released on July 27.

it's funny because last year , it was 1 release after another that came on so fast until everyone was seriously complaining that they over release their material

now everything is just really ... quiet & Lotus was released on 23rd Feb & now nothing is happening which's just scary haha

they need to release a new album . 5 singles in a new album is more than enough

i think i'm never gonna complain about too much new releases anymore, LOL. i can't handle these long periods of no new music. makes me happy that i got into arashi in 2008! because before that, they only had like...2 singles a year? i couldn't handle that now, LOL.

New au CM starring Arashi



On April 15th, mobile phone brand, au began airing a new CM starring the boys of Arashi. The new CM has the concept of “Japan begins to connect each other more”, and features each member’s solo shot.

The theme song for the CM is Arashi’s song “Boku ga Boku no Subete” which was one of the follow up songs of their 24th single “Beautiful days” (released in November 2008).

Trailer revealed for Miyazaki Aoi & Sakurai Sho’s upcoming film “Kamisama no Karute”



The official trailer for Miyazaki Aoi and Sakurai Sho’s much anticipated film “Kamisama no Karute” (God’s Medical Chart) has finally been revealed!

The movie is based on Natsukawa Sosuke’s novel of the same title, which sold 300,000 copies and received a second place literary award.

Sakurai plays the doctor, Ichito, and Miyazawa plays his wife, Haruna. The movie is the story of a doctor who puts all his effort on medical support in the countryside.

To prepare for his first role as a doctor, Sakurai met with Natsukawa and also visited a hospital to learn about medical services. Sakurai took the role seriously, even getting a perm since the original character is said to have a mop of hair.

The movie will be released on August 27th, but until then, check out the trailer below!

The movie censorship board hasn't give a rating for GANTZ yet but I suspect it might be NC16 if not worst case M18

No way they're going to show Oohku here due to the content of the movie . I frankly will be surprised if they're going to do that o_O

MatsuJun Spotted With Mysterious Woman

Arashi's Jun Matsumoto was spotted with a mysterious woman by no other than fellow Johnny's member Keiichiro Koyama. A few days later Koyama reported about this chance encounter in his radio show "K-chan NEWS".

Koyama, who seems to be regularly visiting a chiropractor, has recently had a special encounter there with his senior and fellow Johnny's, Jun Matsumoto. According to Koyama, he was accompanied by a woman whom he seemed to be close with.

Both idols were surprised but ended up greeting each other. While talking, the woman turned out to be Matsumoto's mother and later his father arrived too. Apparently Matsumoto wanted to introduce his parents to the chiropractor.

Koyama stated "You sometimes meet your seniors in private, but you hardly ever meet their parents." Moreover he said that he doesn't think that Jun Matsumoto looks much like his parents.
