Girls’ Generation is releasing a new version of their third studio album, “The Boys”, on December 7th.

The album will be a “Mr. Taxi” version, and it will include a new jacket image. Girls’ Generation will promote their follow-up track “Mr. Taxi” on music shows starting this week on December 2nd on KBS Music Bank, and continuing until the end of December.

Mr. Taxi was a run away success as the lead song for their “First Japan Album”. The dance version of the music video for “Mr. Taxi” already has over 37 million views on Youtube. The girls hope to continue the success with the popular song in Korea.

Girls’ Generation has already won eleven awards on music shows for “The Boys”, including five wins in a row on KBS Music Bank.

what even .. Performing it in the comeback stage was one thing, but as the repackage?

I'm trying to understand that they didn't have time to record new tracks BUT WHO'S FAULT IS IT THAT THEY SLEEP TWO HOURS A DAY. THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE SOME TIME FOR THE RECORDING STUDIO OR THE PRACTICE ROOM? WHAT IS THIS ****ERY.

What's the point of a repackage if there are no new songs on it? How is just changing the cover of the album and promoting an old song going to motivate people to buy this? As someone who didn't buy the album and waited for the repackage and avoided playing the album much so I wouldn't overplay the songs before I received a physical copy of the repackaged version, I'm very disappointed. And also, what ever happened to the worldwide release of their physical maxi single? We were told that it was originally going to be released on the 19th yet it's not out and only speculations have been made about the release date with no official announcement. At this point, I'm not even excited about either release any more. This is unacceptable.

Boomerang was the song they filmed a MV and prepared to release instead/before Gee but there were legal problems so it was scrapped and they went ahead with Gee. It's not a new song or anything like that...

I guess SM are too lazy/cheap to prepare new choreography. The girls know how to perform it..

pissed about the repackage thing O_O couldn't they just add one single new song?! I'm not asking for much or anything, just one song would be enough...

What's even more upsetting about the repackage thing is that they're not even choosing one of the awesome songs on the album as a follow-up track. Imagine how awesome it would be if they released a repackage with TRICK (yes I'm obsessed with it ok) as the title and did a whole Britney Spears 'Circus' era/Kuu 'TRICK' era concept, the choreography can include magic tricks too and everything! If the song is never performed at concerts then someone in SM needs to get fired .
OSCAR, Telepathy, VITAMIN, and Say Yes would be great choices as well. I would suggest TOP SECRET too but they already did the whole spy thing with Hoot.

To be honest, I'm not that disappointed. If we get a hot MR. TAXI style cover and the song moved higher up on the album (to track 1-3) then I'm all for this. MR. TAXI's the best song on the album, Japanese remake or not, so it deserves success in Korea as well, and I'd love to see a new video for the Korean version. I just hope they change the video up and don't just do the exact same thing for this version, although I'm totally fine with a cover and photobook styled after the outfits of the Japanese PV. I already bought The Boys so I'm glad to know it wouldn't have made a difference in my purchasing decision if I had waited for this announcement.

On a negative note though: yeah, it does sound like serious trolling. A repackage with not a single new song? That's just weird, and even lazier than T-ARA's "Roly Poly in Copacabana".

i actually wish their follow up song isn't MR TAXI. i wish it to be a new song on the album.
and i really hope there will be new songs on the album or remix version.

anyway, the girls won two awards tonight at MAMA: Artist of the year and Best female group.

MAMA = Mnet Asian Music Awards. It used to be called Mnet KM Music Festival (MKMF) until 2009.
I wouldn't say the MAMA is prestigious, it's kinda been the joke of the kpop fandom for the last couple of years The girls didn't attend it in 2009 & 2010 because SM and Mnet had some disputes. SM accused them of being unfair to their artists and boycotted them until early this year. Personally I was never fond of Mnet in general so the MAMAs don't matter to me, plus it's just a huge popularity contest and fans tend to take the voting a little too seriously. The Golden Disk awards are what really matter, and they won that last year. (despite the fact that Super Junior fans say they didn't win it fairly )
