So so excited to see this in July. The more I read about it the more I see the different layers, how intricate and thought-out the whole show is and how it reflects the concept behind PQ. Not such a simple rehash of what she's done before.
Yeah, could have used a more balanced setlist instead of being so PQ-orientated but at least that way everyone gets to hear their favourites off that album. Plus there's enough non-staple old songs in there to give it some balance. Would have loved to hear like a doll or do it again live but I can live with that. Would be more disappointed if any of reminds me/return road/tell me why were not there. People complain about the name - but really, it has absolutely nothing to do with the show or how good it is. It's a good concept, nobody has said that the concept is crappy, just that the name is somewhat misleading, so why scrap or waste it? Hoping she rotates Letter with call. Want to hear call more. I never actually like her stage outfits that much. they always seem a bit too kira kira/not good taste to me. although I've got a feeling they get worse & worse every year

^ Y'know, I'm not a big fan of Happening Here, but it was a nice opening to the tour. I wasn't too thrilled the first day, but it really got the crowd pumped. Despite me not liking the song a whole lot, I couldn't help but sing and dance along to it!! But I haven't gone back and listened to it since, haha.

I actually really like that song now, haha. I couldn't make it past the first minute before, but now I can listen to the whole thing!! I wish the studio version were as... I don't know... I feel like the live was more energized than the studio version.

^Shake it? Yes the live was much more energized (same with happening here) The live guitars and drums really brought it to the next level. At least the studio version of shake it has the sick dubstep bridge.

People said the same thing about RnRC - feeling disappointed by the studio versions. Just goes to show ayu is a true musician

^Polka and I were talking about this. To us fans and to the people examining the album, the covers are genius in conveying the theme of the lonely woman who puts on the guise of a party queen. But to nonfans they are just going to see a sexually provocative singer. But honestly, gurl is so far established and 14 years into her career. Who gives a rats ass what nonfans think. Its about her and us her fans. Being a brave artist is not caring what the people who aren't listening to the album think. Ayu has proven time and time again that she has this integrity.

Well, we're gonna get a cat maid ayupan next year, if previous years are anything to go by. How can people not be excited about that?

The raunchy-ness is all a guise though (and the title of Party Queen is really that raunchy), like I said, we fans know the meaning, who cares what the nonfans think at this point in Ayu's career

Why should she be concerned about what people who wouldn't listen to the album at all would think about her releases? Love Songs cover was the tamest thing ever, and this never made the album sell millions... this just makes no sense... If her career starts being focused on what people who aren't her fans wants, she is going to release albums filled with only variations on her summer singles, winter singles and concerts ending songs...

I'd rather her continue with stuff I know she's good at, rather then experiment and churn out tunes like the next LOVE and Eyes, Smoke, Magic. There could never be enough winter ballad singles by Ayu and I miss the good concert enders.

^ I think releasing this type of album now shows she doesn't care what people think in general.
But Im sure she does care in a more personal way. It has to be hurtful to do something and then have people bash it. There is a reason why she is not as active as she once was on twitter and what not. |
