So... are we not getting another studio album? Is _genic the last of her studio albums?

I think it's a bit early to especulate about that since Finally isnt even out yet BUT I guess there'll be something, cause I doubt her dome tour will last till September, and it'd be odd for her to say she's quitting on September but do nothing from May/June till there. Maybe another Checkmate or something?
One could think of Finally as a mix of best and original album, since there are some songs that were not on an album before plus six new songs lol Take that third universe

I don’t think so. I can’t imagine with all the new songs on finally, plus the goodbye tour, it makes much sense to release one. Otherwise it’d be like “hey here’s my best tour and my new album tour”. But we can dream!

The WOWOW version left some songs out, so we will have to wait for DVD to see Paradise Train, Can you feel this love, Fighter, Don't Wanna Cry and maybe a couple others, but those were the ones that stuck out.

So far my impressions are; love her look, love the setlist, but unfortunately, it seems low energy to me overall. Namie's shows are always a bit hit and miss in that regard for me. Some tours I think she's just out there and loving it and the energy level is there and then others she seems tired or less than enthusiastic; this kind of fell into that later category for me unfortunately.

That's a shame considering this was meant to be such a momentous occasion. I feel like overall everything falls pretty flat when compared to the initial plans for the cancelled 20th anniversary concerts.

Oh, I'd like to see a tribute album as well. I can totally see Kuu covering Body Feels EXIT or Chase the Chance

Yeah, some moments felt odd to me. Like the opening of ROCK U, she was just casually walking all the way over to the other side of the stage, taking her time, and it took her a while to even start dancing during the first verse lmao.

I did like the dancer intros this time though. Usually they're all performed solo, but this time some of the dancers joined in with others and it made it seem more dynamic and interesting. So that was cool for me.

Regarding the upcoming tour, I really hope the setlist won't end up being like the 20th Anniversary Tour. Her Japanese fans will most definitely vote for all the same songs as last time and that was such a bleh tour to watch lol

^ Where tho? All I recall from official sources is her saying at the retirement announcement she was putting efforts on a final album, but that didn't make it clear if it was a studio album, so as far as we know all we got is Finally.

Plus tbh I don't see why she'd make 6 album tracks for a all time best and then have a studio album. Could be possible, yup, but odd.

Honestly, seems highly unlikely to me that she'd release an original album after this best. This best and the tour after it are her farewell. Plus, consider how she decided to include new songs on it the best instead of an original album. She could've easily just put all the singles since "_genic" plus the new songs on an original album, but she decided not to. I think that alone speaks volumes of her intentions.

I do wonder what she'll do after that, though, because there's no way a dome tour is going to last that long, leaving like four months before her official retirement in September. Maybe she'll do some FC-only lives? One can only dream.

Yeah...

Assuming the dome tour + Asia tour will be finished by the end of March, that leaves 6 months (April to September) empty. The DVD release will take up like 2 months for promo/sales. So what could she possibly be planning to fill the remaining 4 months of time with?

Lives? Namie is the QUEEN of long tours. I'd love to see her do one last fully Japanese album, but I'm genuinely going to be surprised if she does. I mean, it fits her timeline to release something new next year, but if she's retiring... well, there goes the neighborhood.

So, what are we going to do without someone making random tracks like NAKED and Neonlight Lipstick? I feel like the upbeat dance tracks have been Namie's shtick. I love Kuu but she's like more ghetto than high class dance. If she'd do another TABOO, I'd be all over it, but she's really far into the hip hop rabbit hole now.

Maybe BoA will make a comeback?... Or Utada could keep going with the dance thing and become a diva? Like, we certainly can't count on Ayu to fill this spot. Maybe MIKA can learn to dance. Or maybe we can get Kana to do it. Namie!! YOU CANT LEAVE....!

She could potentially release a live recording of her goodbye tour.

Is Namie planning to release a final studio album besides "Finally"?

A remix album is more likely.

I guess it is highly unlikely ... moreover It would not make any sense. Finally is basically maping her whole career so even if I would love to have another album, it simply does not make sense to release another album with some other hits after Finally.
I guess, _genic was her last one even if no one expected it then to be very last original album by Namie. We still can get some remix and/or b-side album. But this will most likely happen once Namie is retired.

Stop breaking my dreams you all. What it wouldn't make any sense would be not releasing anything after Finally when she announced she'll retire next year September and finally is being released now AND she said she wanted to give her best this year until the retirement. So, not releasing any song(s) (or album(s)) after finally would be ridiculous imo.
Edit: actually I think finally is going to be released now because of the media coberture she's getting from the announcement, and that we could get some kind of compilation again next year like a complete single collection or something. For me it would have made much more sense to release Finally when she actually retires, let's say September 16th.

She can still pull off some stuff for next year without releasing new music. A FC Tour for rare songs, e.g.
I don't want to break anyone's dreams, but I'd rather be surprised if something new comes out than having broken expectations regarding next year.
