Yeah! But I'll definitely make a new one if we don't hit 500 before the tracklisting and CD cover leak.

Well, there was Together Again which was released digitally early last year. Proceeds went to Haiti. But yeah, nothing since then, and I'm chomping at the bit for something new.

here's the promo of it:

I can't find a decent audio on YT that doesn't include fan lyrics scrolling through, but you can find it there certainly if you want to sample it.

Hopefully we'll get a taste of their new music in August when they perform at Rock on the Range. (HECK YA It'll be their first live since, 2009ish?) Most definitely we should be getting some lives of the new music by the time they perform Rock in Rio in Oct.

Anyway, I've got some news

Multi-platinum rock band Evanescence is currently recording in Nashville and intends to finish (except for mixing) its next album by the end of June, singer/pianist Amy Lee tells Billboard.com. The target date to release the album on Wind-up Records is Oct. 4.

"After finishing touring [behind 2006 album "The Open Door"], I just sort of took off and didn't know what I was going to do next and wasn't sure if the Evanescence thing would happen again or when it would," Lee says, adding that she took about 18 months off before she got the urge to start writing music again. "I ended up falling back in love with Evanescence again and wanted to work with the guys, and it became more of a group project."
....
"The process has been much more of a collaboration between the whole band," Lee says of how the album is coming together. "Usually it's me and one main co-writer...This time everybody had something to do with it from the ground up." She observes that as a result the music has "a lot more about a live feeling about the band. The way everyone is playing strong, it's like we've been playing the songs on tour for a year."

They should be finished recording in June, that makes me so excited. <3 Hopefully, we'll get some samples in the coming months.

^lol that's...imaginative. >.>

And yeah. But that was after it was pushed back from it's original (September?) release date. I hope this album doesn't follow the same pattern. I'm tired of delays :X

June 27, MTV.com: Evanescence's New Album 'All Over The Place,' Amy Lee Says

Quote:

Amy Lee is having a hard time talking about Evanescence's upcoming album, partially because she's out of practice — it's been a while since the band's frontwoman has had to run the press gauntlet, after all — but mostly because she keeps using words like "fun" to describe it. And even she realizes how odd that seems.

"I can't give a good quote about it, because it's probably the heaviest record we've ever done, but we're having a great time making it," the singer said, laughing. "I don't want to say the word 'fun,' but it is ... it's totally fun. We're just going for it. So I don't want to say that it's 'expressing the pain of a thousand sorrows,' because it's not that. I mean, it's just more mature; it's just a great record. It's hard to sum it up."

Of course, she's quick to add that "fun" doesn't necessarily mean "silly or poppy." "It doesn't translate right ... I'm having fun; we're all having fun," she explained, "And there are moments where you can hear that."

But Lee will be the first one to admit that, when Evanescence return in October with their first album in five years, they'll be a very different beast indeed. Case in point: the first single, which, though she won't reveal the title, is one she feels comfortable describing as a definite departure for the band.

"It's really different for us. It doesn't sound like any Evanescence track you've heard before," she said. "It's heavy, but the melodies and stuff, I feel like I just did what I wanted. I just literally sang what I wanted to sing, because it was fun and it kind of made me smile, and that ended up being the really fun, cool, catchy thing that got everybody hooked on it."

I don't know what to think about this "all over the place" business. The conflicting info we're getting from Amy doesn't help matters. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I'm mega excited for the first single though.

In other news, Amy will be appearing on the Starbuck's Muppet Tribute album with the track "Halfway Down the Stairs."

...Yeah, I've got nothing to say about that.

It's been FIVE years since the last album so I'm really excited about this one. But I don't know what to think... she keeps saying Evanescence sounds like never before and I don't know if that's good or bad. My expectations are very high xD Just wait and see I guess lol
The Open Door was so great... I hope they can make such a good album again.

Btw, since the album will be out in October we'll have the single for August/September right? *O*

Wow, to be honest I thought they'd disbanded long ago lol.

The Open Door was so long ago, and I have rarely listened to it lately, too...I'll be keeping an eye on this though now I know, as I've always loved Amy's voice

Idk, it's hard because when I see this I think of Linkin Park and how much their music went down the drain when they changed their style, but I don't think Amy is going to let us down.

Huh...that's a little disorienting lol. But I'm definitely anticipating their new album, & I'll try to keep an open mind when it comes to the new style.

Not sure how I should feel about that statement. I like the style they have through Fallen and The Open Door so I would like to have more of the same but I guess I won't mind too much if I really like this change. Confused lol.

I liked their sound.
I never trust it when bands decide to change their sound. It never ends well.

Evanescence New Single: "What You Want"

MTV has leaked a bit of Evanescence's new single "What You Want," though to be honest, I was a bit disappointed that the "leak" was more an interview with the song playing behind it, but whatevah...

The Video
The Article

Quote:
Frontwoman Amy Lee had previously described the song as being "really different" from anything in the band's back catalog, and, as you can tell, she wasn't kidding. "What You Want" is most definitely a departure, quite possibly the heaviest song Evanescence have ever made. The guitars buzz like a hornet's nest, the drums are pounding and primal, and the strings (arranged by Beck's dad, David Campbell) swell and stab. Throw in a positively massive chorus and Lee's vocal pyrotechnics, and you've got a song that's powerful enough to shake rock radio to its very foundation.

And that's pretty amazing, considering its simple roots.

"[Bassist] Tim [McCord] and [guitarist] Terry [Balsamo] and I wrote that song at my house in New York. We were just jamming, like, recording demos, and obviously the song has grown a lot since then, with everyone else," Lee told us. "For me, it was — and I need to remember this, so I can apply it in the future — it wasn't trying so hard to be some epic, massive chorus. I was just doodling around on the piano and the guys were like, 'Do that. Whatever you just did, that's an awesome melody.' And I was like, 'Really?' Sometimes you just need your friends to be like, 'Do that!' "

Though it came from humble origins, "What You Want" deals with heady concepts, a trait that's readily apparent throughout Evanescence's new album.

"It's about freedom — that's definitely a constant theme on the record — but, it's like Evanescence, and me, and my relationship with the music and the fans, and coming to that [realization] of 'This is what I'm supposed to do ... I want to do this,' " Lee said. "And when it says, 'Remember who you really are,' that's exactly everything you could assume it means."
I love that Amy's having so much fun with this. She looks happy and bubbly about it. I don't know how I feel about the song though, I think I like the bridge/verse? Whatever part Amy was singing along to, but I'd need a clearer preview to say.
