i still haven't received my album... but onto happier news...

nanao253 @ LJ has emailed a european magazine, Neotokyo, about getting arashi to europe. here's their response:

Dear Nanao,

thank you for your mail.

The interest in Arashi had been quite big and we try our best to bring the band to Europe. Should we really be able to succeed, then it will unfortunately take some time until everything is cut and dry.

i'm happy they show interest in getting arashi to europe, but...i don't live in europe, lol. i'd ultimately prefer arashi to come to north america one day. but i'm glad this mag took the time to reply to the suggestion and who knows what could happen one day.

Arashi ranked 1st in "fav artist 2010" survey

人気グループの嵐が、８日に発表された、音楽ファン２万人が選んだ「好きなアーティストランキング２０１０ 」で初の１位に輝いた。
　エンターテインメント誌「オリ★スタ」が０４年から毎年行っているもので、嵐は昨年、初めてトップ１０に ランクイン（４位）。今回、晴れて頂点へと上りつめた。

　調査は同誌の読者及びオリコン・モニター・リサーチ会員計２万人（１０代～４０代の男女各２５００人）へ のアンケート結果を集計。嵐は、総合１位のほか、性別、世代別など１４部門のうち７部門で１位を獲得、幅広 い層から支持を得ていることを証明した。

　寄せられた回答の多くが、「歌、ダンス、トークすべて完璧なバランス力」「５人の仲の良さ」「５人５様の 個性的なキャラ」を理由に挙げていた。

　 嵐は昨年、ＣＤ＆ミュージックＤＶＤ総売上金額が最も高かったアーティストトータルセールスを初めて受賞。 今年発売したシングル「Ｍｏｎｓｔｅｒ」では、 デビュー曲から３０作連続トップ３入りと史上初の快挙を達成した。また、８月１６日付アルバム週間ランキン グで初登場１位となった「僕の見ている風景」で は初動売り上げ７３・１万枚で、第１週にして２０１０年年間トップに躍り出るなど快進撃を続けている。なお 、ベスト１０は別表の通り。

Brief summary::

Popular group Arashi has been chosen as favorite artist 2010 in a survey done by 20,000 music fans.

Just last year was the first time since Ori star do this survey that Arashi was ranked within top 10 (at 4th position)

The survey was carried out in the magazine Ori star and also people w/ membership in Oricon monitor research (2500 women and men between 10~40 years old).

Arashi was ranked 1st in 7 out of 14 categories (gender, generation, ...), that proves the great support they have.

Some of the replies given were "Singing, dancing, talk, there is a perfect balance" "Their relationship is good" ...

Then it talks about the oricon yearly ranking for last year and also about this year.

LOL i actually thought aiba's outfit was okay! but his pants are too baggy, i think. but anyway, the performance was SO LOVELY! i love the dancing & those "orchestra" moves jun was making. you know when the leader of an orchestra moves their arms to make the people play? to me that's what jun was doing he looked so gorgeous, UGH. his smiles always gets me everyone else looked great, too, of course. but sho's outfit wasn't really the best i think aiba's was better than his, lol.

and last but not least.......I FINALLY HAVE BOKU NO MITEIRU FUUKEI IN MY HANDS!! after going through 3 weeks of hell and making a complete fool of myself at the post office, the mailman gave me the package!! i signed for it and everything. but when i told him my whole "i didn't bring my ID" story, he was just laughing at me, LOL. i fail, i really do fail. but thank god i got the album. i'm gonna put it on repeat all afternoon! sorry neighbors

"Love Rainbow" is really growing on me. I didn't like the previews, but now I think it's a really nice song.
This shows us - once again - that you should NEVER EVER judge a song/PV because of previews!

And the "making of" is soooooo sweet.

Overwhelming number of fans wanting Arashi textbook

More than 100 calls a day from fans wanting a copy of Arashi textbooks have been overwhelming office staff at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, it was revealed yesterday, reports Daily Sports.

“ニッポンの嵐 (Nippon no Arashi)” is an A4 sized, 200 colour page textbook that has been distributed over all of Japan’s primary, junior, and high schools.

Inside, photos of Arashi members are splashed everywhere as they visit different locations within the country, introducing the local culture.

The book was originally planned to be released publicly, but after the group was named as tourism navigators in April, plans were changed into making it a free school textbook. On September 1, two copies of the book were donated to each of the country’s 40,000 or so schools, totaling more than 80,000 books.

Since then, the Ministry’s office staff have been flooded with calls from fans trying to get a copy of the book. Enough that the Ministry had to send a press release to media outlets outlining the book’s details.

Arashi’s Satoshi Ohno (29) had commented about what he and the group hope the book would become.

“We were thinking that if would be great if everyone could read this in their school library in the years to come, but now we have been motivated to donate the book.

“The books you read as a child in your library will stay inside of you forever. From the bottom of our hearts, we hope that many children in this generation and the next will read and enjoy this textbook,” he said.

There is no doubt that this school-library-only book will be the center of attention in many schools across the country.
