It is a big deal, it's funny the first time but the fact that none of them have realised is embarrassing. The language excuse doesn't wash as they've managed to do quite well for 15 years now with the word "Countdown" and Ayu is quite proficient at English herself. Her team has no quality control now, I mean, they just released an album with terrible mastering and mixing (the low vocals on the new classical album) but no one seems to care anymore.

Is there really no way to send a hint about it? I tweeted but what is a tiny tweet among thousands she gets daily.

Probably the person who made the writing on the cake didn't even know the right spelling either and just copied the logo they send him/her.
At least the goods had the correct one... as long as the right logo is on the DVD, I'm fine.

The only thing that bothers me is WHY did they even keep the wrong logo. They wouldn't be putting the wrong one everywhere if they had deleted it and replaced with the right files to begin with.
Certainly, they sent the wrong logo to the different sectors and noticed after the mistake and the communication for the correction wasn't followed everywhere. Unfortunately, bad communcation often happens in this world. Even if you sent the correction or a directive, it's not sure that the other'll understand it or will apply it.
Quite paradoxical with all the means of communication today but that's the reality.

It doesn't matter she is a Japanese artist releasing music for the Japanese music market: if you're going to use a foreign language, use it properly. One thing is to make a mistake on Twitter, but they didn't bother to correct it later. I don't think this is her fault at all but, as someone mentioned in this thread, some people from her staff need to be fired. This kind of mistake wouldn't be acceptable anywhere else.

I agree, and have wondered over the last few years why Ayu hasn't been more stern with her staff (close friendships perhaps?), but now it seems to be all sectors of her career, not simply her marketing and creative team. At the core of it though, it does come down to Ayu and Avex. I genuinely believe that Ayu could be a far more popular at the moment, I think her lyrics are universal and timeless in ways, and she has a fantastic ear for melody. Moreover, she is stylish and modern, I quite enjoy seeing her fashion choices on her instagram and in ViVi. I believe she has all the potential to continue being a popular artist, perhaps even attaining the legendary status that has been attributed to Amuro (who I believe has been exceedingly intelligent with her team, particularly her marketing), but she's failing on so many aspects at the moment, and some are aspects (i.e. simple spelling and grammar checks) that you really wonder how on earth they have slipped through the cracks.

I think another example was this countdown. So much potential, not enough expansion and execution of ideas.

If this is such a huge problem, jpop should be avoided at all considering the amount of engrish on it, even on recorded tracks from big artists...

^ hey now, that is way over the top. People are only calling out the misspelled word because it is and it looks sloppy. Countdown lives exist for years and this is the first time it was spelled wrong. If you ask me I would call that unfortunate. Oh well, at least it is not spelled like Cuntdown.

^Hahah now that would have been hilarious!

I gotta admit, I do not the issue with the low vocals on A7 although it doesn't stop me enjoying the album. I didn't think it was something I would pick up on tbh but it is very noticeable.

Honestly she even has a song called count down... And i've never seen this with any other artist before sure it's only a spelling mistake but i agree with pieces_of_seven that it's embarrassing and unprofessional

And to be fair, speaking as a copywritter, "countdown" has been written with the same typography on the same arrangment for years now in her material, I won't be surprised if most of the time they simply copy and paste it from the previous logo. When you are reading a text usually human brain only need the first and final letters and the lenght of the group of letters to form an word, so much that the discussion around the logo over here, for example, runned for a while before someone noticed it and pointed it out. Considering "countdown" is always written the same way and the mistake doesn't change much the lenght of the word visual-wise, the people who proofread the logo most likely focused on what was new info ("made in tokyo", the years) and read the wrong word superficialy (first and final letter and the lenght, instead of letter by letter). This is a pretty dumb mistake, but fairly common if the team is overworked, for example, and most design teams I know doesn't have any kind of professional writter or reader on them, considering they usually only deal with text as image, and not as words.

They most likely were overworked by a tight schedule, were dealing with a language they have little intimacy with and the "countdown" part of the text was out of their focus due to not being something all that new. As someone said before over here, once the mistake was noticed the print material was corrected, but the wrong logo was still used on some minnor digital stuff and on the cake because of some comunication fail.

It's still unprofessional and a big mistake from Ayu's team. This shouldn't happen again.
