In regards to the music itself, I think it's just a matter that her music is taking a new direction. As a whole, she's probably in the same lull as Madonna where she's no longer as popular as she used to be. It probably doesn't help that Ayu is reaching 40, so I imagine there is some ageism tied in.

However, if you're afraid that her concerts are no longer as opulent, watch Arena Tour 2015 A Cirque de Minuit, and be blown away. As a longtime Ayu fan, this was imo one of her best produced tours since her Arena Tours for My Story or (miss)Understood.

I agree, it is somewhat unfair of me to judge her vocals given the busy year Ayu had, but I think that as a professional she should really be looking after her voice - I think these were some of her worst vocals since 2007/2008. I've never been too much of a critic of her current voice, there are numerous factors that impact upon it, and I think she does the best (admirably) that she can. However, this time I feel that all diverged at once and the product was unfortunately sub-par. I do concede that A Cirque de Minuit had great vocals!

I also agree regarding her music change - the music she makes now is more suited to having a crowd of people tearing it up on stage, but I suppose I'm nostalgic for the days where her single presence on stage (aside from her band) allowed her to glow. Then again, I bet the feeling of actually being at one of her concerts is very different to watching it on a screen! I'm actually not too fussed on the opulence - I think the years where her concerts were less 'busy' were more 'interesting'. Then again, I think that is reflective of her current career and its direction; she's made her mark on the world of jpop, and now she's just making music she enjoys.

On the ageism note, it is frustrating. All our favourite female artists are ageing, and it doesn't make them any less fabulous or interesting. Online comments about Ayu's looks are particularly infuriating; she looks as fantastic as she did when she was 28.

I've been seeing that exact auction for the past few months, maybe even years. Sometimes he lowers the price to 555,555 yen, I think I've seen it for 444,444 a year or two ago. I personally don't think it will ever sell.

haha I also saw a cardboard of Honda Giorno Crea! I never saw that pic before so it was quite surprising.

so I bought I am... album finally! haha. I could have bought it 11 years ago when I first visited Japan but instead I bought MY STORY, (miss)understood, A BEST and some singles. though I am... was my all-time favourite and it still is.

I also bought SURREAL, M, Endless sorrow, Daybreak singles + NEXT LEVEL Limited edition + ayu-mi-x 4 for really cheap prices at amazon and HMV.

I already have Boys & girls, evolution, SEASONS, UNITE!, No way to say singles, ASFXX, Duty, LOVEppears and other albums and almost all her cds of 2011-2013. I don't remember all of them since they are in my hometown not in Kyoto.

I am now in desperate search of Dearest and appears. And also I really dream about her very first releases from poker face to A, but of course, it's really difficult to find new ones

I've always loved the single version of Endless Sorrow. However, it's not a song that she has a great track-record of performing live. I think the Made in Japan performance is actually one of her better performances, even though it's a bit pitch-y. There's something about how she sings "nokosarete" after the aerial lift that just cuts me every single time I hear it. It's just the smallest modulation in her voice, but I absolutely adore it, especially in the TV version.

15 years! OMG <3 Did you searched at "BOOK OFF" stores? I found a looot of old and limited stuff of her there! Specially in their store at Akihabara.

I feel like this has been answered recently but I haven't been able to find the answer, but what happened to Ayu's body double? I know during her prime she was everywhere with Ayu and then just kinda disappeared.

^ I asked that question too hahah There's still a body double that she uses to have a big picture of how her concert is looking like while she's singing and performing but I'm not sure if it's the same one she uses since the past... And she's also not featured in the concert as she used to be (in the end of the show especially).

I've been listening to GUILTY and OMG this album is so good! The first 10 songs are just amazing! So sad and deep. (But MY ALL sucks)

I always find stuff there too! But the one in Shinjuku was even better during my last trip -- they were doing a lot of clearance and I bought a whole lot of singles for 50 yen each.

hahahaha yes! She used to appear in the end of the concert. You can see by this image from ARENA TOUR 2002 during "no more words" (the last song).

During July 1st from STADIUM TOUR they mixed making of scenes with the actual show and you can see the body double. And there's some making of scenes from the DVD that you can see the double with Ayu.
