I still think a new album is in the works. I'm still wishing for namie to pull her inner Momoe Yamaguchi and release one of the best jpop albums ever just after her retirement.

She should release a bluray collection of all her music videos. Maybe she can shove the mythical video for Beautiful onto there lol. And maybe the S!S!W!D! video (if she ever actually filmed it)

And a remix album is a must because so many of her tour mixes are amazing.

Also, her retirement will be cancelled if I find out "In Two" or "How do you feel now?" is not the Dr./Defend Love conclusion and this is truly her last release.

lol. I have the same worries. Honestly, it's perfect timing for someone like Maki Goto to make a comeback. She had it; the timing was just not right before. She might be too busy having kids now though.

There will definitely be a gap when Namie leaves and her fans will be looking to go somewhere.

The conclusion was the tour.

So anything is possible but at this point in time avex most likely wants people to focus all their attention at Finally.

I really do believe and I understand when she announced her retirement, that she will really make a final album.. a best album isn't effort at all for her and I believe she is grateful enough to her fans to realease it next year.. maybe the last album will not have a tour.. or maybe just a 2-months tour.. but I guess it's enough. I really don't think she will end it with this best.
This is what I meant earlier
And we need some justice to past<FUTURE songs in a tour before the retirement.

I wonder if she'll ever sing Genkai Lovers live. I know it doesn't really fit with the rest of her discography pop sound, but I remember seeing somewhere that it was one of her personal favorite collaborations and it would still be nice to see live (especially if Show-Ya guests).

I don't see how it's not effort. There are 6 new songs, 6 new PVs, and 39 tracks have been rerecorded.

I also think that this is the final album. She didn't say that she was working on a final best album AND a final album. She just said final album.

I could maybe see a final single or something, but I'd be really surprised with another album, 6 tracks plus her unreleased singles IS a new album.

Yes, she said final album.. but we all know that japanese stars never get the "best" quote beside if it's a best. They try to put "best" in everything to sell more.. so I really believe that when her staff wrote "final album" they meant final album and not final best album.. but who knows? I hope I'm right because we need a full last album with only new songs

Wait & See -risuku- I'd say. We never know. To me, it feels kinda incomplete (?) and strange for her doing best album now and having a tour which will probably finish in March and then nothing until the end. But it could very well be it.

As for future releases: it really depends. I also saw people bring up ZARD - but i do think a death is a very different reason. in the end, it comes down to who owns the song rights of hers. Since she retires to have a private live, it would be kinda strange of her to allow her stuff still being released and bringing her up. I mean, she seems to be very clear in what she wants and she is probably really going to end it here once and for all - at least for now. Maybe she feels empty without music - it could very well be happening. But I guess only the future will show.

Momoe Yamaguchi's This Is My Trial was released two days after the end of her farewell tour. It didn't get any live performance, but it's her truly last album. And is was released only a few months after 不死鳥伝説. Both full of new material.

I bet Namie can do the same. And will do the same. I don't know why, but I have a strong feeling towards this hahaha

exactly, and as Japanese plurals are quite unclear sometimes, we don't know if what she meant was albumS lol and No, I don't care for her staff's translations.

I like all this expectation tbh, we'll know someday what her plans are.

^ aaand Finally even closes the album lol

I'm not saying it's impossible, we all know some releases and stuff in jpop don't make much sense, but I'm not getting hopes up for anything cause no hopes = no disappointments. There's no sign at all of new material after Finally and I'll keep on not hoping for it.

I will repeat my last post because it feels just so simple for me to understand: I think Finally is meant to be her last song.

its second meaning is "Finale", its lyrics are very easy to understand and as said above by Gustavopc, it closes the album.

I dunno, if this album was titled "Finally one more album after this one" then I would be convinced.

Maybe “How do you feel now?” will be the conclusion. Like there’s Dr., then Defend Love, and finally How do you feel now? Like, do you feel better now that you’ve seen the Doctor?
