Kuu in the yearly Oricon ranking.

As I've predicted, she didn't even fell out of the top 250 with AND.

She's making music for FANS and not for CHARTS, that mainstream thing is in the past. Now she's indie, we work now with conceptual urban.

I stopped caring about Oricon a long time ago . Even if Kuu's releases are not on Oricon Top 300 any longer , that's not a big concern to me

At least Kuu is still doing what she loves doing after so many years , that's all it matters

Anyway I'm currently watching AKIKO WADA 50th ANNIVERSARY WADA fes. ~Koto Ware Nakatta Nakama Tachi~ that WOWOW compressed the 2 days concert into 1 file

There're 2 back to back MC segments towards the tail end of Day 1 of the concert before it switched to Day 2 footages

And among the artistes that spoke onstage is Kuu where she was wearing the outfit when she performed Megumi no Hito with Suzuki Masayuki

WOWOW also included the encore segment of Day 1 concert where all participants of Day 1 did a joint performance of Wada Akiko's Mou Ichido Futari de Uta Itai together with Wada Akiko herself

Kuu wore the yellow outfit when she sung Mou Ichido Futari de Uta Itai together with Wada Akiko & the other participants

^I loved NEVER ENOUGH performance. I'm so glad she went with that song. She sounded great too. It was nice to see a good number of her fans with DNA and W FACE light sticks in the crowd.

You are a flop. If she was a flop she wouldn't have charted at all and weren't able to sell out tour dates. She's finally doing what she wants to do and not what avex wants her to do, let her and her fans enjoy it.

It surely will affect the whole family.
I wish them all the best.

The anniversary shirt can be preordered till Monday in the FC shop.
They gonna produce and send out the number of those limited preorders only.
I hope Nosuke will get better soon. Her career has pretty much ended, I was happy she at least got happy in her marriage but now this happened. According to her Insta she and Nosuke are getting a lot of public support, which is great. I do hope he beats cancer.

I woke up at 4am to order the t-shirt but by the time I got on my phone and logged in all the sizes were sold out. Sounds like they made like 100 pieces per size if not less.

I guess the question is, will money hungry Avex allow kumi to continue on with this new direction. I have my doubts after misono’s album cover.

I cant with people calling her a flop when she's selling almost 40k. Don't feed the trolls, you guys.

The performances for the WADA FES were fine. just now I got the HD rips for all the performances and she looked good and was giving a good energy to the stage.

It's nice how she cares for FAKY!

I guess she finally watched A Star Is Born. She made such a long post about it. haha

Wow, that was a long time for the film to open there, it's been like two months since ASIB cane out? lol It's so nice of hers to post about it, I love she shares with all stuff she likes, from food to music, she doesn't pretend to live in a bubble where there's only her career/brand like usually artists do on social media.

And relax about the sales guys, juat for releasing two albums in a year shows avex cares about her career, plus she's doing all those tours and even a CDL. Physical sales aren't everything, especially nowadays.

Japan rarely get non Japanese made movies open early in the market cos they need time to voice dub the movie into Japanese

In some cases , the movie titles will get changed and be known in another different title instead in Japan's context

That happened for Frozen and also the new Wreck It Ralph 2 movie

Just to stop with the conversation about avex and blablabla, the sales for album - female solo artist (from avex) is:

1 Amuro Namie - 638.939
2 Koda Kumi - 38.611
3 Hamasaki Ayumi - 32.538

http://tieba.baidu.com/p/5984557613

So what's here to worry besides jpop being trash for female singers this decade? Nothing new here, so let's move on.

I think we have different meanings for success because Kuu has achieved a lot in her years as a singer.

Kaled is right, Kuu and Ayu still belong to the top solos for avex.
Female solos aren't trendy, there are just a few exceptions (same dynamics apply to them as well tho). Most of the others are just there, some selling a bit better (Kana Nishino, Juju, Nana Mizuki), some are a stable middle (like Kuu and Ayu) and some are doing a bit worse (Ai Otsuka, Miliyah Kato, Mika Nakashima).
But even so...
Juju sells better physical and digital, but her tours are a bit smaller than Kuu's.
Same with somebody not female like Ken Hirai e.g. - he's on the rise physical and digital, but his performances are (still) smaller.
Or take Superfly. She sells better than Kuu as well at the moment and has a better public reputation in general, but she also had a FC tour about the same time and the same venues as Kuu this year, just with much lesser dates (6 for her, 23 for Kuu).

The market nowadays gives a lot of chances to make it or stay relevant. Avex and their artists focuses on concert tickets and FC memberships and it works.
Considering physical and digital sales are both getting smaller in Japan and streaming is going to change the market further, this is probably a wise strategy.
And why have artists to be big anyway?
They don't have to.
Some are even really happy in their niche and it's enough to survive.
What's so bad about being average in popularity?

As someone who has supported Hirai Ken for more than 10 years , his physical sales has dropped over the years likewise with the charting of his releases on Oricon

Ken's selling power for his releases have long ago been over even though he had the number 1 selling single in 2004 and number 1 selling album in 2005

But Ken still can sell out his solo tours , be it in a Hall venue setting or Arena which applies for his current ongoing Ken's Bar 20th Anniversary Special!! while this year in August , he performed in New York for the 1st time in 8 years

Same thing applies to other male solo artistes such as Fukuyama Masaharu-san , Shimizu Shota

Bottom line is the current era in Japanese music ain't the same as before which makes things harder for solo artistes to thrive in the market

But as long the respective different solo artistes are continuing to do what they do best in , that's all it matters and as fans we should continue to support them as much as possible

Kuu has not reach a stage where her releases have problems charting on Oricon . When that happens , then I will worry a bit but that's secondary to me . I rather she put out quality releases where it cannot sell well instead of the opposite

chill, I just put that face because he back down from his original statement after the pressure. If he thinks she's a flop then so be it. that's all.
