I don't think any of those, maybe Ayu and Kyary aside, are meant to represent specific people, just fashion trends. That would make sense because those 2 had a huge impact in fashion, so it would be less "Ayu and Kyary" and more "`women influenced by Ayu's and Kyary's fashion". Maybe the first one reminds me a lil more of Namie?

I mean... Namie never really had a ganguro look.

Edit: Sumerain could translate some of it

1994: kogyaru
1996: Amurer (from Amuro)
1999: ganguro
2001: Ayu style of gyaru
2003: Onee (big sister) style
2006: erokakkoi (so... Koda)
2009: Age (he thinks it may be Kana Nishino's style at the time)
2014: Bigan Roller Beam (Kyary)

I'm not fluent in Japanese, just read some of it and tried to remember some fashion trends I know from Japan!

They seem to feature fashion trends then other random booms as well like tourmaline bracelets or "minus ion" boom... or the shippo trend. The "new boom" they want to push is aloe yogurt, lol.

Ayu and Amuro ones seem to be the only ones that are specifically mentioning people's names.

Probably a lot of the stuff is typed with kana keyboards and then it automatically changes when they convert to English.

So many times "poker face" becomes "porker face" online because of that. Apple Music STILL has it as Porker Face.

2009 “age-kei” I believe is from Ageha magazine.
Although Nishino Kana had aspects of that look during her debut / break.

I remember Koda mentioning once that one of her biggest regrets is ero-kakkoi catching on as its name with it not featuring her name somehow lmao. Something like "my one chance to be in the history books!"

This youtube channel is fun, a Korean super fan who has provided Eng subs for his videos -

His universal "aioo not this song again.." commentary is relatable on the a-nation video lol

Some concerts are still happening, with some limitations. Kumi will do two concerts in december, in Yoyogi (if it doesn't get cancelled).

The CDL might still happen, if her/her team really wants. Wasn't the last year's CDL tickets available very close to the actual date?

Seeing as how other things were recorded from the set, it's probable the performance is floating around somewhere waiting for a release. I think that year was the last year before they started to air full a-nations on TV so it's a bit unfortunate.

I've been thinking about this lately. Was the whole cutesy slow "ayu wa this, ayu wa that" personality when she first debuted just a "character" she was playing, kinda like what Poppy had been doing before she parted away from her ex producer?

People have drawn comparisons between this and the whole "Tomo-chan" act from Tomomi Kahara. Seeing how Ayu dropped it rather quickly after her rise to superstardom, I can't help but wonder if her label pressured her into acting that way at first to make a lasting impression on TV?

PS: It's kinda crazy to see how the "dumb" ayu-chan in that video is the same person as the fierce lady in this interview:

She continued that act for a while. She used to talk in that cute voice all the time. It’s nice hearing her in English cause she’s probably too focused on the words to do the voice.

There was that one HEYx3 segment where she pretended not to know how to ride a bike too.

But then other celebrities like Rola gained popularity for being ditzy, so if it works, it works
