Touch My Body is #1 for downloads, and I'm guessing that puts Madonna at #2... but she hasn't even entered the top 25 for radio play yet, where Mariah has been in the top 5 for quite some time now. Madonna can't rely on digital downloads alone. It would be great to see her get her first number one hit in the States in a really long time though.

As for radio, I agree that a lot of stations aren't embracing the single but the ones that matter are. Z100 in NY and KIIS in Los Angeles are some of the most influential radio stations in the country and 4 Minutes has been doing phenomenal on there. A lot more stations are starting to follow in their footsteps. With the video, upcoming promo tour, and the maxi single with all the remixes still due for release, we have a lot to look forward to cause she ain't going anywhere.
I hope that's a sign that it'll be a successful album in the US. But while I prefer 4 Minutes to Touch My Body, I think Mariah might have an easier time getting a hit album in the US. I'd love to be wrong about this and Hard Candy to be huge everywhere, but I'm being cautious with predictions despite that promising digital #1.

4 MINUTES Reaches #1 on iTunes (U.S.) Today!

Today "4 Minutes" has finally reached the #1 spot in the iTunes Store. It is now outselling Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" and Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love".

Continue requesting "4 Minutes" at your local radio stations and buying the single at iTunes, amazon.com, real.com and other digital music stores. To contribute more sales, at digital stores you can "gift" the single as a present for friends and family.

Madonna's last album only saw about 1 million in sales in the United States, which really leads me to believe that she is not as strong of a seller here as she is in Europe. Mariah will vastly outsell her here, and Madonna will be the victor in Europe. But Mariah will probably have Asia since she's the #1 selling gaijin artist of all time!

According to M's myspace, 4 Minutes video will premier tomorrow on iTunes (a day earlier than originally expected.)

I think a lot of you missed them on the last page because I posted them in the middle of a bunch of other stories and pictures, but the 4 Minutes video captures are available on Drowned Madonna, Madge Tribe, and Madonna Tribe.

WHO ELSE IS EXCITED!?!

I'm trying not to listen to anything, since I wanna keep everything as a surprise for when I buy the album. I'm VERY curious abnout 4 minutes, but I'm still forcing myself not to listen to it, despite my curiosity. It's so hard LOL

ahah i know, I think I'll end up letting myself loose on the pressure ahaha...the single will probably not be sold around here though (if it is, prices usually are inflated...).....HARD CANDY is already available for pre-order herethough. A little expensive, but I don't mind, I'll be buying it as soon as it is available LOL

16 seconds of the 4 Minutes video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote:
Full 'Hard Candy' review from The Attitude!!!

1. Candy Shop
M: Ok, this was leaked and divided people.
L: The lyrics are ridiculous! I love it!
M: Some journos will probably slate it, but it's a statement and sounds much better in the context of the album. It's like an entree. It's her saying "so what if I'm 50. I still like to **** - so **** you!"
L: The whole album says I like to ****, dirty *****...!
M: The bass is bigger, but it's essentially the same as what was leaked.
L: You can so see the gays dancing to this. They are SO sticky and sweet.

2. 4 Minutes
M: This is out know so everyone knows it. We're running out of time to stop global warming.
L: I'm not sure if it's global warming. It's kind of about us saving ourselves., looking after ourselves.
M: I hope people actually pay attention. This kind of track is the point of Madonna.
L: Ok, now we're super excited because we're going into unknown territory...

3. Give It To Me
M: This is the next single. It starts bouncily, like a circus song, like the intro to The Girlie Show and becomes this ridiculously catchy sing-song.
L: It's almost like Sugababes Push The Button.
M: Really fun and playful. It's her ultimate theme song.
L: It's SO not what you expect, it's almost comedy but it's fantastic. It'll have some amazing remixes. I love the techno at the end. I can see stroke lights!

4. Heartbeat
M: Some reviewers have said this is the big 80s pop song but I'm not sure. It's a great album track.
L: It's calmer. It won't give you a heart attack at 8 in the morning on the way to work like Hung Up would.
M: A cool, solid song with a sweet, catchy hook...
L:...and a "See my booty get down" interlude where Pharrell goes "Woof woof"!
M: Is it? People need to woof more on pop records.

5. Miles Away
L: Oh. My. God. I LOVE this one. It's amaaaaaaaazing. Power of Goodbye...
K: ...meets Nothing Fails meets Love Profusion. It's ethereal, whimsical, guitar-heavy, mid tempo...about not being able to express yourself when you're together. It's sad and sweet and lovely.
L: Absolutely genius. Got to be huge. It’s got the great hand-clapping bit in the middle but it’s not a stomper.
M: Sort of delicate... picks you up and wafts you away on a pillow of windswept tears. (laughter) ’Were always at our best when we’re miles away’.
L: So far away...
M: So far away...
L: Let’s cry now. You would not be able to not clap along to this in a concert. Unexpectedly warming…
M: …which is a very Madonna thing to do. It sounds resigned. It makes you want to have a boyfriend so you can reject him so you can sing this song. (Cackle).

6. She's Not Me
L: J’adore this! I’m better than the competition. It’s so drag.
M: Is this the campest thing she’s ever done? ’She’s started dressing like me, talking like me and freakin’ me out. She started reading my books and stealing my looks and lingerie, what’s that about?’.
L: (Laughs) I want to dance to this now.
M: It reminds me of Thief of Hearts.
L: Disco funk. And there’s football whistles.
M: And double hand claps.
L: Any song where she repeats a word three times - like ’she was stealing, stealing, stealing’ gets me.

7. Incredible
M: This is the first one we don't really love.
L: It's not an instant melody but it could be a grower. Need to hear it again.

8. Beat Goes On
L: This is unrecognisable from the leak! It’s one of the highlights. Total 80s disco. Xylophones, full on synths. Sort of thing you’d hear at Horse Meat Disco, an ’everybody get up and dance’ record.
M: Very 80s but not in a modern electro pop way. You think you’re listening to a Shalamar record and then Kanye West comes in.
L: It’s got a Taana Gardner feel to it.
M: It’s the point where she turns on the fun turbo boosters. This is the Candy. It’s too too good...
L: LOVE. IT. Especially Pharrell’s Beep, beeps.
M: It’s gonna be played in every disco in the world for 12 - 200 year olds. Could be an instant classic.

9. Dance Tonight

M: Starts off slow and almost sulkily. She's growling.
L: Justin says "Madonna, I'm gonna take you to the club." You're expecting something calmer and then it gears up into this big 80s groove.
M: "You don't have to be beautiful, rich or famous!"
L: Really sexy, really retro, really funk. It's another "you can do this too" track.
M: It's a love in.
L: The whole album's a love in. Any song that has the lyrics "til the break of dawn" gets my vote.
M: The kind of thing you wanna put on at 4am when it's only your best friends and your boyfriend still at the party. It reminded me of If you Wanna Have Some Fun on the Spice Girls third album, which always reminded me of Stephen Bray.
L: We both absolutely loved this, right? One of the best on the album, definitely.

10. Spanish Lesson
L: Not our favourite.
M: It's an album track where she explains some Spanish words and phrases.

11. Devil Wouldn't Recognise You
M: She told me this was a good song.
L: ...and she was right. Very Cry Me A River.
M: But more epic, cinematic. It's like Bad Girl 2. There's sirens, there's rain. Very dark. Like an episode of ER. I can imagine Christopher Walken back with a devil's tail.
L: Amazing Timbaland production. Brilliant track.

12. Voices
L: The last track. Her traditional philsophy one.
M: It starts with Justin saying "Who is the master and who is the slave?". She asks "are you walking the dog, or is the dog walking you?"
L: Ends with the strings, the orchestra, and a ship bell. It's really dark and mysterious.
M: It's produced by Danja. Really sweeping, big way to end the album.
L: Almost Massive Attack-y. Great way to finish.

VEREDICT
M: Love it!
L: Wipes the wall with the competition!
M: Someone at the top of their game showing off...full of meaty disco tracks.
L: Full of 'em! It's not brainless vocoder pop and it's not Nelly Furtado...
M: ...like people thought it would be. The title totally makes sense. It's got a real optimism about it like True Blue has but with a mix of some of the drama of Like A Prayer. It's the kind of album that people who prefer early Madonna will love.
L: Feels like the earlier records with a nod to the latter.
M: It hangs together like a real collection. It's proper full-on melodramatic pop. You will not be able to sit down listening to this record. Singles?
L: Give It To Me, Miles Away, Beat Goes On, Dance Tonight. It's like a greatest hits album. Pop record of the year, for sure.
M: How many points?
L: Hmm, 4 and a half, 4 and three quarters or Five?
M: **** it. Five!
Source: Madonna Fanzine

Just to clarify, Madonna is not in that! L and M are abbreviations of the reviewers' names.

^LOL that review is hilarious! It does create a lot of expectation over the songs too.

I just heard 4 minutes playing in the radio today! It's really funny because I was like..hmmm...is this a timbaland song playing....but hey, is that Madonna!? OMG it's probably 4 minutes that is playing now! It sounded awesome! I can't wait for the album now

I think I'll like the album... but I don't think it's any different from all those other Timbaland-labeled music. Which makes me not so excited for the album and it's not as if I'll go "OMG!!!" at any tracks

R.I.P. Nelly Furtado btw

Madonna Reveals 'Sex with Guy Is Incredible'

She may be almost 50, but Madonna has no problem bearing all – when it comes to interviews, at least.

For May's U.K. issue of Elle, the still-sexy singer – whose eleventh studio album, Hard Candy, is out this month – chats candidly about her kids, her sex life and her tempestuous marriage to Guy Ritchie.

Madonna and the 39-year-old filmmaker have been dogged by rumors of marital strife, culminating last month, when the singer's rep was forced to release a statement saying, "Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ritchie remain happily married."

In the interview, she talks frankly about the struggles they face as two strong-willed halves of a Hollywood power couple. "I had to marry a challenge because otherwise I would just get bored," she says. "Whatever else Guy is, he's never boring ... We're both there to help each other and challenge each other."

In fact, Madonna tells Elle, Ritchie inspired her new song "Miles Away," in which she laments being forced to spend so much time apart. "So many people have to deal with long-distance relationships," she says. "It's not easy. You have to work hard to make it work."

And in the bittersweet love song, "Incredible," the 49-year-old croons, "sex with you is incredible." Is that also a tribute to her husband-of-seven-years? "Absolutely," she tells the magazine. "Sex with Guy is incredible ... And surprise, surprise, it's his favorite song on the album. Actually, maybe it's not his favorite song, but it's definitely his favorite line."

Still, she seems bemused by all the media speculation surrounding the state of her union. "I'm sure people aren't that interested in my marriage," she insists. "Posh and Becks are much more interesting."

Madonna's Softer Side
The singer shows her softer side when talk turns to her children, Lourdes, 11. Rocco, 7, and soon-to-be-adopted David, 2. (According to Reuters, Madonna is expected to travel to his native Malawi April 8 to make the long-bogged-down adoption official.)

"Lourdes is the most like me," she said, adding that her eldest is now going through a "Goth phase." "Rocco is just Guy. He's very aware, very funny and doesn't let anything drop. David is this incredibly bright, smart, bundle of energy. They are all so different and completely full-on."
'I Would Never Get Fat'
As her August birthday approaches, she shows no sign of slowing down. "I'm not going to be defined by my age. Why would any woman?," she asks. "I'm not going to slow down, get off this ride, stay home and get fat. No way!" Then, making a face, she adds, "I would never get fat."

She won't talk about any surgery she may have had – "I'm not against plastic surgery, I'm just against discussing it" – but Madonna does reveal some aspects of her beauty and fitness regimes.

"If you want to know how I look like I do, it's diet and exercise and being constantly careful," she says. "I swear by oxygen facials, I'm obsessive about staying out of the sun. I don't drink much and drugs are out."

The real secret to her success, Madonna thinks, is self-discipline. "There are no tricks. Tricks don't work. Discipline does."

'4 Minutes' video premiers TODAY!

NEW YORK, NY, April 3, 2008- "4 Minutes", the pulsating and hypnotic debut single from Madonna's 11th studio album for Warner Bros. Records "HARD CANDY" is off to a roaring start with explosive exposure in a wide range of mediums.

The breathtaking new video for "4 Minutes" featuring a propulsive performance by Madonna along with appearances by the song's co-writers and co-producers Timbaland and Justin Timberlake will make its world premiere and be available for sale exclusively on iTunes for 48 hours beginning April 3rd. The video was filmed in London in February and directed by French wunderkinds, Jonas and Francois (Justice and Kanye West). The single, '4 Minutes' is currently #1 on iTunes.

The upcoming Warner Bros.-Village Roadshow Pictures action comedy "Get Smart," is on board to include '4 Minutes' in the film. In theatres nationwide on June 20th, "Get Smart" stars Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway as secrent CONTROL operatives Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 on a mission to thwart a plan for world domination by the evil crime syndicate KAOS. The film also stars Dwayne Johnson as superstar CONTROL Agent 23, Alan Arkin as the Chief, Terence Stamp as notorious KAOS king pin Siegfried and James Caan as the president of the United States.

On the international front, '4 Minutes' is already Top 3 across Europe in airplay and Top 10 around the world. Already playing in heavy rotation on radio stations across the US, the single in Canada is the fastest selling song in the history of the Canadian music charts. The song can also be heard as part of Sunsilk's multi-million dollar ad campaign.

"Hard Candy" will have a global release on April 28th and a US release on April 29th and is a brilliant up-tempo collection of 12 songs in which Madonna remains ensconced in club mode but adds an urban hip hop beat. "4 Minutes" is Madonna's 26th Top 40 chart hit in the US. Her previous album "Confessions On A Dance Floor" debuted at No. 1 in 30 countries and sold over 8 million copies.

Madonna, a multi-Grammy-award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, cultural icon, world renowned stage performer, video visionary, children's book author, director and documentary film maker has sold 200 million albums in the course of her unprecedented two decade plus career and has just been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

When asked about the "4 Minute Fever Phenomenon," Madonna commented, "Goody goody gum drops."

Give It 2 Me video directed by Tom Munro

While we're all waiting to see 4 minutes, the first video off Hard Candy, that still has to premiere, Madonna is not wasting time. Being quite happy with the results of her Elle amazing photoshoot by Tom Munro, the two of them have become quite good friends and Madonna has asked Tom to direct the video for the second single, Give It 2 Me. Madonnatribe has heard reports they are actually shooting the video in the UK, today!

From what we hear the help of an additional unknown director will be needed to add graphics and other effects that will complete the video.

I love how dynamic and in your face the video is. Justin looks handsome and Madonna is flawless as usual!! I can see her getting a lot of new and younger fans with this and hopefully shut up a few of the haters. The Japanese dancers were cool, but kinda pointless. They were in maybe three seconds of the entire thing?

Videos are getting pulled almost as soon as they're posted on all the video sites. We should wait until things level out a bit to share because otherwise we'll be swamped with links that last for ten minutes. Even better yet, go buy it on iTunes! It's well worth the mere 1.99 you pay for it. (HQ, iPod ready, just an all-around great video!)
