Sakurai Sho to host 12-hour live broadcast special music program

NTV will air a special music program “THE MUSIC DAY Ongaku no Chikara” on July 6th to commemorate their 60th anniversary since its launching, and Arashi member Sakurai Sho will serve as the main host.

Just like NTV’s annual telethon “24-Hour Television”, ”THE MUSIC DAY Ongaku no Chikara” is also planned to be their annual special music program. The broadcast network plans to hold a survey that is related to the theme of the year, masterpieces chosen from the survey will be introduced.

This year’s theme will be “The masterpieces that encouraged Japanese people”, and it will be broadcast live for 12 hours, which will be the longest music program to ever air. The main venue is the Makuhari Messe, and many great artists will gather there to perform. Archive footage from the past 60 years will also be broadcast.

Sakurai commented, “It was surprising enough that I would be the main host for the special music program for this summer, but knowing that it would be 12 hours long, I am still in doubt. Without getting crushed by the dignity of its title, the 60th anniversary since launching, I will try my hardest to serve this important task!!”

NTV is currently asking for requests for the “masterpieces that encouraged Japanese people” on their official site.

Additionally, there will be a music event “THE MUSIC DAY LIVE presented by ‘ZERO’” (charged), to be held on July 7th, at the same venue.

Sho Sakurai To Host NTV Live Music Special Program

Another hosting job is given to Arashi member Sho Sakurai as it was announced that he will be the emcee for NTV's special music show "THE MUSIC DAY Ongaku no Chikara".

The live music program is scheduled to be shown for 12 long hours on July 6 featuring performances from 50 bands and artists at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The show doubles as a celebration for NTV's 60th year anniversary with the theme "Songs which give the Japanese people strength".

The program is in the talks of being held every year and this live will mark its start. Fans and viewers also have their participation as they vote their favorite songs through the show's official site.

Furthermore, another event called "THE MUSIC DAY LIVE presented by ‘ZERO'" will be held at the same venue on the following day.

30 second movie trailer for MatsuJun's new movie Hidamari no Kanojo

The official website for Takahiro Miki’s upcoming movie Hidamari no Kanojo has been re-launched with a new 30-second teaser trailer.

The film is based on a romance novel by Osamu Koshigaya which has consistently received glowing reviews from young female readers.

Matsumoto Jun plays Kosuke, a rookie ad exec who is reunited with former childhood friend Mao (Ueno Juri) at a client meeting 10 years after they last saw each other in junior high school. Mao has gone through a dramatic transformation from the girl who was bullied and called the “class idiot” in school to an attractive and intelligent young woman.

As the teaser shows, the two start spending lots of time together and become a couple. However, Mao is keeping an incredible secret…

“Hidamari no Kanojo” will be released in Japan on October 12, 2013.

Sakurai Sho to host 12-hour live music special first program in the history of NTV

On April 24th it was revealed that Arashi member, Sakurai Sho (31) will serve as main host of a special program as part of NTV’s 60th Anniversary since broadcasting. The said program is entitled “THE MUSIC DAY Ongaku no Chikara”, it’ll be broadcasted on July 6th and will last a total of 12 hours for the first time in history. Sakurai commented, “I will try my best without getting crushed by the weight of the billboard and the title of this special program for their 60th Anniversary. I’d like to continue to give my utmost effort and serve them firmly in this important task!”.

The show will offer a look back in life and eras through music which is sometimes able to heal, give power and evoke hope, “An entertainment program similar to the large-scaled ’24hr TV’ comes in second as a brand new music festival”. This show will become an annual regular starting this year.

With an unprecedented 12 hours of live broadcast, this is the most airtime for any music program in Japanese history. So far, the longest music program in NTV was broadcasted in December 2008 and December 2009 with “Best Artist”, both of them lasted 3 hours and 48 minutes. In other stations, with data collected since 1987, TBS broadcasted “Bokura no Hi” for 7 hours and 40 minutes in July 2011. NTV plans on taking the first place with almost 5 more hours.

Sakurai has been active in many aspects as an artist, actor and caster. As for his activities with Arashi, he is scheduled to serve as main personality of this years’ “24hr Television” for the second year in a row. Sakurai now has also a big responsibility for this summer to take care of.

“Summer! Music Special! Main host!, I was already surprised by all of this but then added to the 12 hours of continous broadcast, I feel a little skeptical”, he expressed his surprise. “Speaking of the power of music, I want the audience to feel embraced by a history of 60 years”, he hoped.

The theme of this year is “Materpieces that encouraged Japanese people”. On the home page of the show, the audience can request songs they want to listen as part of the theme of the show, they will be chosen and introduced during the live show.

This special will also present VTR and archived footage of the past 60 years, in addition to gorgeous artists performing in the main venue Makuhari Messe in Chiba. Everything will be broadcasted live all over the country.

Celebrations will not end on this day, the said program will be followed the very next day (July 7th) with a live event in the same venue, “THE MUSIC DAY LIVE” to be presented by “ZERO” where “NEWS ZERO” caster Murao Nobutaka and Kiritani Mirei will serve as moderators. Some of the performers will be; ayaka, Angela Aki, Suga Shikao, flumpool, Miyazawa Kazufumi (THE BOOM). In addition, Inoue Akira (Keyboard), Matsubara Masaki (Guitar), Bakabon Suzuki (Bass), Muraishi Masayuki (Drums), Miyamoto Emiri (Violin) will form the “ZERO BAND”.

Tickets general sale will start on June 8th. We’ll get to enjoy the ‘power of music’ for 2 consecutive days.

Arashi & KAT-TUN win injunction against unauthorised publishers

On April 26th, Tokyo District Court ordered a selling injunction and a payment of 54 million yen as compensation for damage and prejudice from Earls Publishers. In the judgment in defense of Johnny’s groups “Arashi” and “KAT-TUN” for publishing an photobook using unauthorised pictures of the groups and their members. They can either pay the said compensation or dispose all their stock. This was communicated by the lawyers of Johnny’s Jimusho.

The order is not only for the recent edition of the photobook entitled, “Complete Treasure Photo File” but all 12 previous books under the same publisher.

Lawyers commented, “The orders the disposal of their stock and their existence as a violation of publicity rights. This shows appreciation for the rights of our talents. It’s a landmark decision to make clear that these acts of selling unauthorised photos are not allowed”.

popular group, Arashi have reached the top spot in both music-DVD and overall DVD charts simultaneously with their live DVD, "ARASHI LIVE TOUR Popcorn." This is their 9th consecutive no.1 DVD (their 11th overall) since "SUMMER TOUR 2007 FINAL Time ~Kotoba no Chikara~" (April 2008), also the first time for an artist to achieve no.1 in both charts 9 times in a row in Oricon history. Including the successive no.1 music-DVD of the year with "ARASHI ARAFES" (December last year, 624k first week), the group also have the record at of DVD total sales at 1st place with "5x10 All the BEST! CLIPS 1999-2009" (October 2009, 893k), as well as the artist with the highest-selling number of DVDs with 7.229 million copies. Morisanchu’s Oshima Miyuki chosen as the charity marathon runner for this year’s 24-Hour Television

On May 11th, it was announced on the variety show “Arashi ni Shiyagare” that female comedian trio Morisanchu’s Oshima Miyuki (33) has been chosen as the charity marathon runner for NTV’s annual telethon “24-Hour Television 36 Ai wa Chikyuu wo Sukuu“.

Oshima revealed the reason why she decided to take on as the runner. “Even though I weigh 88 kilograms, and fat, I don’t want to say I can’t without trying,” she said. “I’m also curious what I would be able to see when I finish running for 24 hours. It’s such an honour, and will be once in a lifetime. I will run at my own best, and hope I could send out smiles to everyone.”

Arashi’s Ohno Satoshi said to Oshima, “Honestly, I’m worried, but please come to the goal at your own pace”, and Ninomiya Kazunari also sent a cheer to her saying, “I cannot sweepingly say that it’s all about reaching the goal. Even if you can’t make it on time, or you can’t run the whole distance, I will still be waiting for you.”

As reported previously, Arashi will be serving as the main personality for the second consecutive year.

“24-Hour Television 36 Ai wa Chikyuu wo Sukuu” will be aired on August 24th to the 25th.

[Oricon] Arashi achieves the top spot in overall DVD sales for 2nd consecutive week

Released on April 24th, Arashi’s DVD “ARASHI LIVE TOUR Popcorn” has sold 51,000 copies on its second week, topping May 13th weekly sales charts for overall DVD sales ranking following their achievement from the previous week. Including all their releases in all genres (music, drama, varieties, etc.), they have sold a total of 7,824,000 copies, getting closer to the mark of 8 millions.

Getting this achievement for 2 weeks in a row is no strange to Arashi because they are receiving this title again, 4 months after the release of "ARASHI Arafes" (December 2012). As for male artists, Mr.Children has also achieved the same with "Mr.Children／Split The Difference" (November 2010).

This work comes for their latest tour, held in important domes of 5 major cities in Japan from November 2012 to January 2013. Within this live, they recorded this DVD during their presentation in Tokyo Dome held last December.
