Btw, Here's a recent article about Namie, translated by Drama Queen@JPM
Quote:
Amuro's "power of the 30's" keeps AKB48 and the Korean unit away

Consequently, the Japanese music scene can't stay up without these people (those in their 30's).

The "2010 mid-year best album rankings" have been published by oricon on June 24. Namie Amuro's PAST<FUTURE sits at the top of it with sales exceeding 566,000 copies. Funky Monkey Babys (548,000) and Tohoshinki (547,000) won the #2 and #3 places respectively. By the way, Kimura Kaela ranks at #5 with 449,000 copies sold.

Considering the extremely popular AKB48's recent album only sold around 380,000 copies, the amazingness of Amuro's "power of the 30's" is even more striking.

Also, Amuro was invited at the "World Music Awards", the world's biggest music festival, which took place in Monaco in May. Her performance was a first time brilliant achievement for an asian female singer.

What is it that supports Amuro? Here is what the show business reporter Kawauchi Tenshi has to say about it:

"The difference between the recently popular groups and Amuro is certainly to be found in whether their true strengh is "genuine" or not. Amuro's popularity is not linked to the young demographic. Recently, she's been shifting from singing intense up-tempo songs to ballads easy on the ears. The fact that she doesn't distance herself from her adult fans and smartly appeal to them is her strengh."

It is said that if a lot of fans from the "Amura generation" who are around their 30's attend Amuro's tours, the examples of their kids becoming fans after listening to Amuro songs rise too.

This is a phenomenon that can't be seen with Ayumi Hamasaki and Koda Kumi. This is Amuro's strong point.
