^ Yeah , the sales in Japan are like 100x better XD .. kpop idols who stay in Korea don't make that much money unless they go touring or something

I really liked the original "Gee" in korean when I heard it the first time, I thought it was catchy and the video was fun and colorful. It appealed to me and made me want to listen to more of their music... Also I thought their music and voices sounded "fresh", like something new :3

Same with me, lol.
Don't understand why they're so popular.
Personally they don't appeal that much to me, but japanese people are different in taste.
Don't like their looks that much as well, don't know why, but korean women aren't that beautiful to me.
I only love Gee, but in the korean original.
For me most of the korean girl bands look and sound the same, pretty generic.
Oh for example was just Gee all over again.

I showed my Japanese friend (he's a native) and the first thing he said was "their accent stinks of Korean". So I don't think they're that popular. They're not that great with the language yet which is key towards their success. One of the reasons why THSK did so well. They worked very hard to become fluent at it and immersed themselves in their culture, not like current stars who just fly in for a quick buck.

this comment made me so sad. it's so offensive and insulting to korean women. I seriously can't believe you said this.

It's just my opinion. Don't see why that is offensive or even insulting. o.O
I don't have anything against korean women, overall I just don't find them that beautiful, that's all. I'm a big 2NE1 fan after all!
There are exceptions of course, for example Hyori Lee. But those are pretty seldom for me.
Looks aren't the most imprortant thing after all.

^ Your comment can be taken as very insulting. Imagine if someone said, "I don't think German women are that beautiful." Wouldn't you feel even a little hurt? It can definitely be taken as insulting even if you didn't mean it that way. So next time, just think before you say something like that, ok?

you're saying it as if all korean women look the same, and that's ignorant, offensive, and not true at all.

Then I'm sorry.
But it's not insulting for me and it wouldn't hurt me at all if somebody says german women aren't beautiful. It's just an opinion.
And there are always exceptions.
But let's leave it like that. I don't understand why SNSD are poluar, but I'm somewhat also happy about it. Cause it shows you can be successfull everywhere if you're talented.

They maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but most people find it enjoyable No one's asking everyone to like them

They're famous in Japan because nowadays girls/women tend to be more independent than only being beatiful and cute, so they could stand on their own and not having to rely on the man so much, somehow SNSD and other KPop girl group could give them an answer. Not too cute, but cool and stylish at the same time. That's why if you ask a Japanese guy about them mostly won't give a good remarks because they're idols for girls in Japan unlike in Korea.
I guess that's the reason why they're popular in Japan.

While in the other part of the world, I don't really know but there is a proverb in my country that goes like this
"Tak kenal maka tak sayang"
which means if we don't know or understand something clearly, then we won't know its true meaning/value so it'll be hard for us to appreciate it.
Most of my non-Japanese friends who loves SNSD are saying that they're adorable and they're cute in their own way. Maybe if we really want to know why they're famous and popular do try to know/understand them, that would be my answer

I did this too, I used to had negative thoughts over KPop groups, but once I know them all, those negative things vanishes
