And whether or not she cares about the media, we can all agree that its a pretty serious blow to someone's reputation if it is known that they have money and didn't help their country or fellow country men at a time of crisis.
I think its a pretty ridiculous situation, either way. You can't satisfty everyone.
Agreed.

Ayu, along with many other stars, gave their countrymen more than just money. They encouraged the fans to not lose hope. Ayu even tweeted medical advice and news updates at the time of the earthquake. To me, that says a lot more about her than how much money she donates, which should have never been disclosed in the first place. This is not a competition and this is not a who-did-what-first matter. This is not about Ayu, this is about Japan. And as long as Japan is able to avoid more devastation and get back on track that's all that matters.

Also, people may disagree with this but, I'd rather someone donate little and mean it than someone who donates more just to show off. Although in situations like this, it doesn't matter as long people get the help they need.

Yeah, but it is nice to see someone who donates more -and- means it completely.

this. 100% agreed. I'm more impressed by her constant tweeting trying to help than the amount of yen she donated.

woooow I had an argument with another member here a few months back about how people are selfish with their excess money and I stated how I was upset that Ayu needed a plane ticket for her stuffed bear (the topic was something like "is Ayu a diva"). I now respect her A LOT more.

She is such an amazing woman and truly giving to do this!

The amount was revealed by mika john and not Ayu herself. She wanted it to be a secret. So it's not like Ayu is looking for the attention here, she just really wants to help her people in this time of need.
I'm very glad that Ayu is doing everything she can to help, whether it be donating/raising money, tweeting hopeful messages, blogging to her fans, etc. She's such a beautiful person.

Totally agree! Anyone can give money, but words and actions can mean so much more.

Somebody tweeted it. Well I'm not surprised, it's Ayu after all. We all can do more than pray for Japan, it's so easy to make donation nowadays. Every single donation is important if it's big or small.
