Mika Ninagawa: I tried to show how AKB48 is in real life, in the video. In the dressing room, they seemed very close to each other. Then I came up with the concept, girl's high school. Mr. Akimoto agreed with this concept. In the video, I set several girl-girl scenes, such as lingerie or kiss scene. I explained to the girls of AKB48 that lingerie did not mean dirty sexuality. In general high school students wear sexy lingerie and show it to each other in the school. I explained my concept of how the lingerie was linked to the innocence and good of AKB48. They comfortably understood my concept and willingly accepted to wear lingerie. I asked AKB48 to choose their hair ornament, but I brought in my fashion team to do their hair and make up. Together we transformed them into a new AKB48. I could see different faces of AKB48 after that. Some members even fell asleep during the stand-by, which we recorded in the video. They were really cute.

Since I'm rather new to them (tbh, I wasn't that fond of them at the beginning), I wanted to know if someone can recommend me any of their older material that stands out (stage songs mainly, I guess)?

I enjoy nearly everything as long it's not generetic and boring (lol, who doesn't) and thought that maybe some of u know some of their older "highlight songs", or good B-sides that tend to get overlooked. It's not that I'm not willing to look for myself, it's just that they have so many songs and singles out there that it would need hours or days to go trough all of it.

I haven't listened to the full singles of their older material but going by the past three years, their B-sides typically aren't really that good (it's a different story for the rest of the xx48 family though). The only ones I've really LOVED are:

Team B Shonichi (Namida Surprise!)
Namida no See-saw Game (Heavy Rotation)
Lucky Seven (Heavy Rotation)
Team A Kuromi to Dialogue (Chance no Juuban)
Team K ALIVE (Chance no Juuban)
Team B Love Jump! (Chance no Juuban)

I'd also suggest checking out the sub-units and soloists as I'm a person that tends to like those more than the flagship group (it's the same for me with Morning Musume and H!P) so you might find some gems there.

They were my top unit but Watarirouka Hashiritai (7) took their place. XD

But no3b (imho) is still the best unit AKB has. They're kinda like the DEF.DIVA or High-King of the AKB48 fandom, just a well balanced group of total talent.
