I discovered Ayu during RAINBOW era, so I'm used to her engrish though. I don't really mind some english in her songs.
But I don't know if I could stand a full english song by her . I remember her cover of Snowhite's song and I barely get what she's saying.

What I get? What you get?
A woman could be having fun, A woman could be like a nun
In order to survive
I can't smile without you
It's over
Everywhere. Nowhere. Anytime.
We are free to go anywhere we want
The freedom we have the choices we make
The sacrifices we pay make life so complicated
No rain can't get the rainbow
We wish

I don't mind english in her songs as long as it's good, I don't mind english in NANANA but the moaning "uu summer day, uu friday nite (sic!), uu midnite (sic! - seriously? I thought chinese subber just made a mistake but it's in most videos), uu lalala" just cracked me up. I also disliked how she sang the english verses of how beautiful you are, she somehow changes her accent recently, probably to sound more english but she sounds really fake, I prefer her past engrish.

I'm shocked that people think she uses English too much
I think that she hardly ever uses English
A lot of other Japanese artists I listen to use English far more frequently than Ayu does

I love Ayugrish(full moon hits me like a log). Love it as much as Kodagrish (oh just a fart/crap your hands) and Namiegrish (answer machine/crub/that nonsense at the beginning of Only You).
I kinda want a full english song from Ayu. Kinda.

ayu's attempt at english isn't too bad. it can be a bit weird, but i've heard worse over the years from other j-pop artists, so... at least they sorta make sense to me.

I'm a Japanese-only lyric fan for Ayu all the wayyyy.

Though I don't mind it quite so much if there are native English speakers that are part of the background music...

The reason I find it somewhat annoying is because even with improvement she still has a terrible english accent. It ends up sounding too cutesy bogus, lame and tacky. namie had a terrible accent but she has improved so much with it that the english excerpts in her songs actually sound nice recently.

She saying "on saturday" (sounds like a crow choking) in You & Me is so bogus that I feel like rolling and exploding.

I don't mind English in her music as long as they are well-written. Her short segments of English lyrics (well, some of them) are better than the crap Americans write. I do have a problem with her poor pronunciation. I will go off-topic here but what really bothers me are her, "WO-WOAH WOAH" and "OOOH YEAAH YEAAAAAH". Terrible...

What?! her woah woah's, yeah yeah's and la la lai's are the best!

RE Ayu & English lyrics - her English has dramatically improved over the last few years, so maybe now she feels comfortable including English because she actually understands it. I have a feeling in 2002 she translated Japanese phrases into English to use. But some of the English-based hooks in her recent songs are more thought out, like that's the first thing that came to her head instead of Japanese words.

And how can anyone hate on "uh lunch time"? That line is all sorts of great.

^ The end of forgiveness comes to mind. That was semi-broken english but better than most music.

Sometimes I mind and sometimes I don't, it really depends. I always prefer 100% Japanese lyrics but if she wants to add some English here and there she can go ahead and experiment so long as it doesn't turn out like You & Me.

I remember when "Real Me" first came out, and people on the forum voted on MTV.com to get it played on TRL. We were all excited about the English and thought it was enough to get the song on American TV, lol.
