On December 31, NHK will air the 68th edition of its annual year end music special, Kohaku Uta Gassen. The show will air from 7:15 PM JST to 11:45 PM JST. As previously reported, the show will be hosted by Uchimura Teruyoshi, with Arimura Kasumi leading the Red Team and Ninomiya Kazunari leading the White Team.

Where In The World Is Namie Amuro? For Kohaku Performance, Mystery Remains

Namie Amuro has signed on to perform at this year's "Kohaku Uta Gassen", but she won't be singing on the same stage as the rest of the artists on program.

The song Amuro will be performing is "Hero". Her performance is set to occur at 11pm and will last approximately 5 minutes. But where exactly will the performance take place? That remains unknown.

On December 29, rehearsals for this year's "Kohaku Uta Gassen" were held. Reporters waited to spot Amuro enter NHK Hall where "Kohaku Uta Gassen" is shot, but she never showed up. Amuro was not present for these rehearsals because she won't be performing there.

According to reports, very few people are aware of Amuro's true plans for the "Kohaku Uta Gassen" performance. Only a couple of high-ranking producers of the program as well as some NHK executives know what is going on.

An official with knowledge of Amuro's performance would not comment on whether it would occur in Japan or overseas. However, the official did confirm that it would be a live performance on a special stage.

Amuro's scheduled appearance on Kohaku Uta Gassen has created a lot of buzz for the program. Although ratings have steadily dropped through the years, NHK is expected a ratings bump as people tune in to see Amuro's last performance on Kohaku before retiring next year.

That said I wonder why NHK organisers want to keep Namie's performance location a secret ? Maybe they don't want any fans to mob her at the venue or something ?

More like they're keeping it a secret to drum up interest in her performance so they'll see a spike in their ratings. Everyone's going to want to tune in to see her sole Kouhaku performance, especially since they're keeping everything so tightly under wraps.

Ah, sorry about that. I had it muted in a tab for a while now and it's still streaming for me, but I didn't realize they probably cut off connection to new streamers.

I found some alternatives, though they may lag and such. Kind of hard to find a decent high quality stable stream :/
