Haha, I love STEP you! It's really a very upbeat song and yar, it's very refreshing for Ayu to combine some electrofunk with the upgoing pop beats. I think it's very good song but I've got to hear the full version to make a judgement! Haha, the Minna no Terebi version just isn't good enough!
But yar, at this moment, I'll choose is this LOVE? on top of STEP you. STEP you really lacks melody and there's not much base to cover up. STEP you sounded really good on the Panasonic CMs, but it sounded rather powerless live. So I'm still waiting for the full song to make a proper judgement. |

With the hollow feeling that STEP you gives and the ever so impressive ability Ayu has to count to 4 in English .. I wouldn't be suprised if her next song will be HAPPY you 123 Clap your hands 1234 if your happy and know it I'm looking forward to her getting out of the generic-lack-of-any-substance-recycled-rock phase Last edited by //hikari; 14th April 2005 at 04:05 PM. |

I really like the melody of the song. I'd prefer it if the English and 'wow wow's weren't there but they're not as big a problem as I'd feared. Of course, this isn't a final opinion since the single version will have better vocals and be longer but at the moment I'm pretty pleased with STEP you.

But overall I think a lot of people are being overly hard on this song. All it's supposed to be is a fun pop song and at that it excels. She has PLENTY of "substancy" songs. This song is refreshing and I don't see the problem with her saying, what 4 words in English? And so what if she counts to 4? Almost all the numbers in Japan nowadays are written as 1, 2, 3 etc - it's not considered a big thing or abnormal in Japan. |

The vocals and music sounded kind of bad live, but from the avex site preview, it sounds really good. Her vocals just sound really bad live compared to the sample. I like it, it has a feel of her LOVEppears stuff at the beginning.

Flat flat flat notes just kill it for me, her expression was peppy but her vocals didn't really match =/ When I first heard the song it honestly sounded something more like in BoA's territory really, the odd smatterings of english here and whatnot. The song is catchy but the performance also just slowly killed it for me, she did a lot of that goose-stepping thing that she usually does when performing but this song sounds like it needs bouncing, spinning, a bit of life to make it complete.

I really love the song from what I've heard! It's so fun and her English is really cute. XD I think this single will prove all the naysayers wrong who think Ayu is dying out.

Ayu is obviously not trying to show people she knows how to count in english. The feel of the song (though there's no lyrics) sounds more as if ayu is trying to teach steps to someone or trying to show synchronization with something. Whether the steps have a symbolic meaning or are just dancing steps, it surely isn't that she wanted people to listen to her spelling the numbers "OMG I know how to count in english, applaud me for that"
