I think you're right about that.

And I think that "guitar driven" was very fitting term. It's what's makes the difference beween f.ex "dance" with a lot of (or some) guitars or rock.

Is what you described about the music theory from some kind of source? I'd be interested in reading that.

No it isn't from a source it is my own conclusion i made a couple of years ago from independent studies.

Take for example the Jazz group THE BAD PLUS, when I was in Japan there was a display of them and the Ad said 'Loudest Piano Trio Ever..." I thought to myself, yea Ethan does play loud, I later saw an NPR broadcast where he basically said and denoted the 'loud piano' statement by saying. 'I use alot of 5ths which are usually associated with rock, out side of rock it is used in accentuations and driving passages.

Of course what I say is flawed [or exceptions are made] Take for example the Ayu song RAINBOW, which used TONS of 5ths but it isn't considered rock by my definitions.

I'll post a tab

after it expires PM me or something

I don't see why rock songs that are pop influenced are not really considered rock.(Ayu has several of these kinds of songs, most have been listed here) If that is the case, then the Beatles were never a rock band. U2 is not a rock band. Queen was never a rock band because their musical influence jumped all over the map. Electric Light Orchestra then isn't a rock band because they are heavily synth influenced. Any Aerosmith or GNR songs that were big radio hits are more pop songs than rock songs etc. etc.

If you think that only the most guitar crunching and loudest songs should be considered rock, then you have a very narrow definition of the genre.(and maybe mine is wider^_^) There are exceptions to every rule and Ayumi's music is definitely one of those.

yea. I played it/imported/transcribed it. It is fairly easy. The only problem may be the speed of the chord changes.

Just for example bar your pointer finger on the highest fret. for example:

switching from the
1<---pointer finger
3<---ring finger
3<---ring finger
3<---ring finger
1<---pointer finger
-
to the
5<---pointer finger
6<---middle finger
5<---pointer finger
7<---ring finger
5<---pointer finger
-
the speed may be tricky for some.

Just bar you finger like this:
1
1
1
1
1
-
and then take you ring finger and bar it on the third fret like this:
-
3
3
3
-
-

when it is time to change lift the ring finger up and slide down to the 5th fret while holding down your pointer and lifting your ring and position in the air for it to land on the 7 and your middle to land on the 6.

I hope that helps.

"If that is the case, then the Beatles were never a rock band. U2 is not a rock band. Queen was never a rock band because their musical influence jumped all over the map."

On a sheet of paper yea, but the attitude and or production made them rock bands.

"I don't see why rock songs that are pop influenced are not really considered rock"

because it is a sub genre: pop-rock.

Hey, cool! Which program do you use? The one I use can only open the tab files on on computers with the same program -_- so it's very useful for transferring on the internet.

If guitar = rock, then TONS of Morning Musume.'s songs are "rock", and if you've ever heard their songs.. you'd think that was laughable.
