Whether or not Mariah will beat her this week, Leona already got number one for her debut week and her sales are insanely impressive for a debut. If this were Mariah's debut album and she wasn't already an established name, I'm pretty sure that Leona would kick her ass this week. I don't see the point in comparing the two artists though since at this point in Mariah's career, she is absolutely NOTHING like Leona.

I suppose, I was just moderately impressed with the record, and not impressed at all by the sales. 204k is not great for an album that has such a huge hit. Even Danity Kane's last album had a higher first week than that. Makes me wonder how well this album will do in coming weeks. And that's quite a bizarre comparison to make, saying that if this were Mariah's debut CD it would be beaten by Leona. Just because it's a debut doesn't mean it's going to have low sales. Many artists' first CDs are their best selling. I think a lot of people are drawing a lot of comparisons between Leona and (old) Mariah. It seems like her management is inspired by Mariah's career debut, although I think it is quite ridiculous to make that comparison when one is 200 million records into her career and the other is just starting out.

Girl come off it, if it's so lame then why is it set to sell over 500k+ in its first week?

Ummm, I wasn't comparing Mariah's actual debut album to Spirit. I was saying that if E=MC2 were the debut album of Mariah and she hadn't done anything she had in the past, then I highly doubt it would have sold as well as it has been so far. Let's face it, the blinded Mimi fans who like anything she puts out are going to buy her albums no matter what.

-I'm not a girl.

-bondingo gave the golden reason.

-I'm not the only one who thinks it's lame. A lot of the people I talk to found the album boring and a disappoinment.

I must get this off my chest----

Okay, I use to luv the hell out of Bleeding Heart. My roommate and I would watch the video everytime it came on Vh1 BUT.....I AM SO FREAKIN' TIRED OF IT! Ugh, i just find the song so annoying and I just made myslef realize that the lady is manly fugly. I know that isn't nice but I saw teh cover in stores and her upclose manly features are just a big turn-off for me. I'm surprise her album Spirit sold so well in the UK...and in the states. I'm not going to critize her album because I haven't heard it and I surely don't want to. I'm not going to come in here and bash or anything like that....I just felt that I had to get off of my chest.

Btw, my roommate still luvs the song. XD

Oh, why were the UK so mad at her? Or what was the controversy surrounding her?

^ GIRL! That's how the WHOLE OF THE UK feels for that song right now. We overplayed it SO much over Christmas when it came out. Now it's like "...not again *puke*"

I love the video though. It's very effective. The girl in the bath tub

She is VERY popular over here. When the album was out over Christmas, EVERYONE was talking about her. Her albums good, you'd like it. You've not heard it?

^No. I'm typically not one of those Americans who'd rush to buy an artist's album when it first comes out. I wait to the vaule goes down....waaay down. It's only $15 but I know I can get it cheaper than that. I'm surprised that I haven't dled the album yet. I think I'm not into her like that.

It has a very American sound, I think. Try Amazon Marketplace though, they always have new releases quite cheap. *loves amazon*

^*one step ahead of u* *amazon fan*

The only thing I hate about that place is that the sellers rips u off on the J-pop CDs. They set the CD prices so freakin' high!

You silly. Album values usually don't go down with time. They're always cheapest the week they come out. I bought Spirit at Best Buy for only 9.99. Now I think it's more everywhere since it isn't the debut week. I definitely recommend it though. If you liked Bleeding Love then you'd probably like the rest of it. At least give the previews on iTunes a try. It's really a fantastic album.

And like I said before, that's a completely unfounded statement to make. Either way I was still very much underwhelmed with Leona's sales. She only sold about 10k more than Day26

I'm just saying it seems like the overwhelming majority doesn't think it sucks. An album doesn't hit 500k in its first week for being awful.

So they're doing a Distance / A BEST thing with Mariah and Leona? Laaame.

Oh and I've just realised that "Spirit" is 7x platinum here in Ireland... with 105k sold.

^Album sales must suck in Ireland....7x platinum is like way....7 million copies sold here in the states.

Although I have nothing against Leona, she can't outdo Ma-maRRRRRRiaAAAhHH!

@Bondy: Oh, okay. I will give her a try then. I really didn't know that she was soooo popular just from that one song...but then again, it's Britney all over again.

@Triple D: She beat Day26...? Awwww....no fair. At least their video is doing hott....on BET.

No, they're not releasing on the same week. Leona wouldn't dare.
