kevjumba can be right about somethings. Like this movie being horrible.
If you're going to watch it for Ayu, don't do it.

i saw the movie yesterday.
i can't believe they cut up Rule so badly. like, i honestly swear they could've played at least another verse of the song because when they ended it, the credits were still rolling. it was two minutes of heaven for like, ninety minutes of torture, but it should've been three minutes. ugh. |

Well, as a generic Hollywood "action story" where the reluctant hero who can't master his abilities manages to do so at the last moment to save everyone goes, I guess it can't be faulted. But you can't just slap "DragonBall" onto a movie like that and expect it to be accepted by the community, or any random cinema-goer. As a DB fan, I know the story is very generic, so what made it work was the interesting characters. Goku in the books is too innocent and gullible, whereas Goku in the movie is some bland angsty teen who doesn't want to be "different". He does have 2 good moments - the part where he slicks his hair back and when he finally stands up for himself made good scenes. Chi-Chi and Bulma's actors should've been reversed. Bulma's actor looked way too old and her supposed intelligence didn't match her actions in the movie (She's smart enough to develop eht DBE but even though she saw a woman steal the DragonBall she almost shot Goku for being the thief? wat). Chi-Chi was kind of boring as well, flashing cleavage wasn't necessary and she added nothing to the movie except being a lust-object for Goku and Spoiler:
Same thing goes for the actors of Roshi and Gohan. I think Jackie Chan should have played both roles! xDD Then you could have seen two identical old men with different personalities. That would've been funny IMHO. :eyeroll: Don't get me started on Yamcha. His parents must've put really tight hats on him as a baby >_< Ewwwww. They kind of got his money-lust right but I think he's really dull in DB without the fear of women thing. Putting aside the looks of the cast in comparison, the story had next to no logical flow. I don't mind if they Spoiler:
I didn't go into DBE wanting to see a live-action version of episodes 1-13. I just wanted a story with continuity, interesting takes on established characters and good acting. I don't think we get any of those things with the movie....I'm a bit ashamed for Ayu's and Toriyama's names to be associated with it =| Actually, make that three good scenes for Goku. The part where he Spoiler:
On a side note. I was very creeped out by this one scene: When Bulma and Yamcha are walking down the spiral staircase in the latter half of the movie (right before the "almost kiss"......barf) on the upper level there's this one asian-looking dude standing there doing nothing and looking STRAIGHT INTO THE CAMERA. It was like he was looking into my soul or something. His face was like this: ¬_¬ but looking in the opposite direction....it was so creepy! |

^ It was featured at the end of the credits. Which not many people will stay after for
and not many people would have gone to see DBE, so the chances of Ayu getting any promotion whatsoever in the US are slim

I had a similar experience, felt so shamed going to see the film! But was so happy to hear Ayu at the end, and for me, everyone in the theatre stayed to see the extra scene and heard Rule! Yay!

![]() Sorry to hear that Rule got so little time on the USA screenings. They play about half the song for the credits in Singapore, but i'm not really surprised for some reason. I didn't really expect the film editors would give much attention to a non-english song. |

Wow, that sucks. I might change my mind about seeing it this Friday with my boyfriend then. I've been hearing nothing but bad reviews. Anyways, my boyfriend likes to leave right when the actual movie ends, he doesn't like to stay for credits. He might get mad at me if I want to stay >_<

I concur with this 100% and have the very same complaints as you. I saw it on opening night too. Me, and the two people I went with, were the only ones in the theater to hear Ayu at the very end. UGH.
