Kazuyoshi Shimomura hates Ayu.

^ Beauty is in the eye of beholder... What ayu and kazu might find as an awesome covers, we may not... We don't know what the other pics looked like, so how can we say they were worse than what we are given as a cover now?

Kazuyoshi Shimomura needs to stay away from Ayu as soon as possible.

Seriously though. The shots of Kuu are really nice. But whenever he shoots Ayu, either it's a PV or photoshoots, it's always terrible. Since he started working with Ayu, she started to become less and less photogenic. Now, she's really not photogenic anymore. She looks better in candid shots of her (Ayu's diary, TeamAyu..) which is weird. Also didn't Ayu said they she thought he was weird and all that? Gosh, she should stop working with him already. It's ruining her!

@ayuayu I'm basing that on her taste and what she usually chooses for her covers... the prettier shots. But of course if she thinks the new covers are awesome, then I would have nothing to say too. ^^

Has anyone stopped to think that maybe Ayu hires Kazu time after time again because he delivers what Ayu wants? Maybe Ayu wants to appear more Diva-ish, more flamboyant? Maybe he likes the way Kazu coaches her. Maybe she's unsatisfied with Leslie and ND Chow's work?


also, i don't know about what it's like working with Kazu, but when Ayu works with other photographers, she chooses her the image that she wants to use for the cover. I read that in Time Magazine. It was during the I am... era, so I don't know if she changed.

Of course it's possible if not highly possible that Ayu loves to work with Kazu and the way her pictures and PVs come out. Why would she continuously work with him over and over again? But it doesn't change the fact that 99% of Kazu's works with Ayu are REALLY ugly.

Ah.. Well that makes sense now! I mean I admit that this shoot isn't her best,but there are people who like it and think that it is. So, it's all based on your opinion. I just don't like it when people make it seem like what their opinion is of something is a fact.

Yeah, whatever Ayu puts out, there are bound to be people who love it, and people who hate it... this latest single covers are far from her best, but that's also my opinion, right? Haha, but I guess when majority of a community agrees that something is bad, then it really should be... more so considering how vast this forum is!

@elepop and octlina: I actually feel Ayu feels fun with Kazu, but yeah it's undeniable most of his works are fug... maybe he can be a great friend, but he certainly can't be a great photographer/director...

but people are saying it's kazu's fault for making Ayu look ugly, bad covers, etc. I have a feeling it's Ayu choosing the final fish mouth pics and requesting MORE photoshop. I worry about her. She seems like someone who's never satisfied, clouded with a unattainable and eccentric sense of perfection... similar to Michael Jackson. *hides* anyway Ayu has always been hands on when it comes to album concepts, every little detail she oversees... I don't know about now though.

Though I agree his work sucks, Ayu is annoying me much more with these shots than Kazublabla. She knows what looks good, she has a lot of control over what she does, so if a video/shoot sucks, she should be able to say 'whoa, stop.' But she's not doing that >.> It's not like she's a newbie who just follows the rest; she's always been on top of her image so really I'm more ticked off at her, than at some lame photographer.

Yeah i think the Sunrise's the worst. The rest looks ok. I do like the MW and newest Vivi photos.
So I dont think he hates ayu... But i do wonder if my taste goes in totally different direction with whoever's finalising the covers this time.

Could be possible but just for the 'Sunrise/ Sunset ~LOVE is ALL~' shoot I think Ayu should have made a smiling face because of the summerish mood.

I agree with you.We all know Ayu has, or at least has had a very good visual eye, so why all of the sudden her photos start to go downhill? It's like, people don't grow out of their skills right? xD

To be honest, I think this might come down to the friendship thing once again. They've now worked together for so long that she might have just simply started to blindly trust in Kazu's "professionalism" or doesn't quite dare to fire him/tell his work sucks.

i'm sorry but the 3 splash pictures are disgusting. i don't think he's an amazing photographer but he has his moments. he's definitely no Leslie Kee or ND CHOW at all. he has shot some of my favorite photos of ayu, but he's probably a miss more than a hit. these photos that were shot by him are just gorgeous imo:

I have to admit though, some stuff that he has done, like the deji deji shoot, was really beautiful. But he has really effed up a lot of stuff. I think my hatred started after Sunrise/Sunset covers were leaked.

I thought the Lick me 3 SPLASH cover was hideous, but the other two were good.

It's impossible to ignore if everytime she releases something all the shimomura cry babies come over and start complaining again ~~ If you don't like something she releases, why don't you just ignore it?! I'm pretending for years that Born to be... video and Secret album didn't happen, so i just can't understand why so much complaining from the same people over and over again when something is disliked! waterballon already said in every topic about this single that he dislike the covers ><

kazuyoshi probably have some good moments, but since the recent covers were so disappointing, people tend to look at the bad and forget about the good

I think some of the problem still lie in Ayu, Kazuyoshi may tell her how to pose, but in the end, Ayu is the one who have the last say...I find that I love Ayu's photos more when it's not just her in a dress and looking at the camera

I prefer some of her shoot that she interact with her surrounding~

Well, it's really the way he (or at least had a part of) made Ayu go from beautiful woman to... some hot mess that she is today. You can not accept it, but you can't disagree that her shots ARE getting worse over the years.

Ayu has always been doing great works... I really don't complain about her, but with the covers for Sunrise/Sunset, I just feel that something has gone wrong somewhere... something too overboard, that I'm baffled, and saddened about as well, so...

@identity: I LOVEEEEEEEE the photos you posted! This guy is not bad when Ayu closes her eyes or smiles. And may I add, I actually love the whole Days/GREEN photoshoot... however drugged she may look in Days/GREEN, or however dolly she may look in GREEN/Days... they're still gorgeous to me! <3

yeah, i think his whole 'style' is to make people look like divas most of the time and have them in expensive dresses/accessories. just look at the photo shoot for Kuu in Kingdom, the A BEST 2 photo shoots, A COMPLETE, etc

it's a style that sometimes i like, and sometimes i don't. maybe some of you that don't like her photo shoots lately can take a look at the TA magazines, because that's where you'll find ayu looking her best imo. and some of the behind the scenes photo shoots are better than the ones they use for the magazines imo. for example..
