Typical of avex. I have a strong feeling that she is really really really going to end up like sifow. Really, it's like deja vu.

... If she comes that far. Wouldn't be suprised if they drop her before she can release an album xD.

Maybe she's as lucky as Kana. Didn't sell that well at first and then steadily improved until LoveOne. But mini has to be extremely lucky to get that far

I actually think the same thing...I hope it won't happen, but if her sales aren't higher next time...

Except Kana isn't signed to avex. I mean, mini is going to have to go out there and heavily promote herself, because avex won't. They give all the money and attention to the poular singers.

Yeah, that's all avex focuses on. They really need to get their butts in gear and start looking after other artists. If they are going to have artists under their wing, they need to help make them successful. I'm getting really tired of it.

Anywho, I feel really bad for mini, I loved the single, it had a lot of potential to get at least decent sales and a decent position.

How is mini supposed to "heavily promote herself"? It's not like she can just waltz onto sets and plug her single. That's avex's job.

It is possible. For instance, she is already established her self in one industry, so she needs to use those connections. Maybe she will have to get herself booked for appearences. sifow is a lot like mini, since they are both ladies who were known for something, got signed to avex for singing and then avex left them out to dry. But, sifow was always in the magazine she modeled for, and it's sister magazine. She did a lot of press and stuff through her own company. Even when she was indie she managed to get her limited release singles to sell out. It's hard work, but if mini is serious about singing she won't sit on her butt and let avex control everything.

It's not JUST avex though, Japan in general is slow in exploiting new talent. Ever notice how most of the highest sellers are old (or ancient) acts, like B'z, Glay and I hate to say this here, but also Ayu and Namie. I'm not saying they don't deserve their success, but I'd like to see new faces. Nishino Kana seems to be one of the few NEW and SUCCESFUL acts.

But yeah, avex in particular is fussy. Mini has a lot of talent.

Oh, and call me crazy, but after thinking about it, I realized that mini kinda reminds me of 2NE1, at least in image. And I know that celebrity blogger Perez Hilton is a fan of them, as well as Lady GaGa, so I decided to e-mail him with some links to mini's work. Let's hope she get on his blog and gets even a small popularity boost!

She does have a style that might be more appealing to Western listeners than some other Japanese singers do. It might help her pick up some attention on the other side of the ocean.

Well...Avex seems to be coming out with so many new artists so fast....trying to figure out who survives and who dies out. It's kinda sad that they had to ruin this girl's dream career by forcing her to do a style that's already overdone. Maybe she can transfer to another label.
