Fek me, Utada made shed loads. I'm shocked. Her album totally bombed in America, and in Japan it was just... selling good I believe.

i DON'T understand how Hikki made so much! Omg! Her Exodus had crap sales in America and her singles collection + exodus were just the normal million sellers in Japan. That shouldn't have earned her that much. Anybody has an answer?

^ her single collection vol. 1 was the highest selling album in japan it sold at least 3M! plus her exodus album in japan sold 1M n her single sold around 400K. plus she writes her own songs, n gets copyright fees, so thats y she earned the most for female entertainers

she also did the production and arrangement of the songs... so she was like pay 5 times more than other artist eg. namie amuro hikki : singer+composer+lyrist+producer+arranger ayu : singer+lyrist+composer namie: singer+lyrist but..i was shocked to see namie's income higher than nakashima mika's ... namie only release three singles in 2004... |

it goes to show you that the best in the Japanese Business can be manipulated by thier producers....
Honestly, I think Americans are more closed minded, because when you look at all the songs that made it onto a chart, only a few has a foreign language in it! Americans like us think that we're the elite being on the planet, and doesn't need to go back to our roots and see what they have to offer, they just want to jump on the bandwagon and take what only America has to offer. I might be wrong, but the only time a full foreign song was on a Billboard Chart was Kyu Sakamoto's Sukiyaki, which was over 40 years ago! After everything evolved, you barely hear a foreign language on a mainstream radio, may be even nothing! Only Hawaii i think has foreign stations on our radios, Hawaiian(duh) and Japanese... Americans need to realize that other countries have great things to offer... I mean, American artists aren't the very best in singing, because of the technology nowdays, you can "morph" your voice to sound better, like Britney Spears. She sounds great in albums, but get her in a live, she sounds horrible! Also, a lot of American artists just don't have the versatility to sing different ways, e.g. ballad, upbeat dance, blah, blah, blah... like Hamasaki Ayumi. Ayu has one of the widest and best sounding range of songs, from "INSPIRE" to "Forgiveness"... and it also seems like American artists can't keep up with thier demanding fans like Japanese artists... American artists usually boom for a year or two, then slowly slide into oblivion... while Japanese Artists like Hikki can keep up with the charts, Ayu can win the SAME award (Japan Record Music Award) 3 years in a row... it's amazing how radically different these two industries are, and how radically different paychecks are... I think that Japanese Artists more than 3 times the amount that American artists get because of thier consistency and how the keep up with the demands, unlike American artists.... Just my opinion.... |
