In the daily chart I think she beat Mika, but Mika's album is out longer or something?

*not completely sure*

I was kind of shocked to see her sales that low, too. I thought her Arena Tour would sell more. And I'm not sure if they count YesAsia sales or not though. I doubt they do.

No, I wasn't talking about DVD sales at all. What I said was: if tour money counted on the list [not just single+albums] then SMAP, Southern All Stars and Mr Children would be before Ayu and Koda would be lower than Ayu because Ayu did a tour in big venues and Koda Kumi in smaller venues. Please, read what I post before complaining.

comparing Best~first things~ w/A BEST is kinda unfair since 1.3M now could have meant 2m+ (or sumthing like that) in 2001. so i advise other members not to look at the comparisions literally
OK, so if Best~first things~ was released in a very good year and sold two times what it did this year [2,4 million copies] then A BEST would still sell more.

And by the way, BoA best-selling single, Valenti, sold 184,120 according to Oricon.

And I don't understand why you advise members not to look at the comparisions literally. The numbers are true and most of the singles/albums are from the last two years. It's a fact: all the other Jpop female artists have a long way before they reach Ayumi Hamasaki.

Mika album was released a week earlier and it's a best album. Plus, Mika Nakashima is very big right now with all the Nana buzz and all and Mika is a very big artist, too. As a female artist, I think her albums just sell less than Ayumi and BoA [but I'm not 100% sure].

2 million to 4 million? Where did that from? Around that times Albums did really well. Not Singles nor albums don't sell as much as they used to. I mean Look at DEF.DIVA they were number 1 on Oricon Weekly selling 24,000 only. So you can't compare sale between then and now.

And Mika Album don't do bad it's mostly her singles that do bad. I have her sales

STARS 469,000
CRESCENT MOON 99,000
ONE SURVIVE 87,000

GLAMOROUS SKY 432,662 (still in the top 50)

ALBUM:

1) i said "it seemed..." which meant that i thought u said it. i already knew u didnt since u already said no.
2) i dont no how u think im complaining when i just said "it seemed..."
3) i advise the members not to take it literally cos sum members do forget that album sales have declined by half since 2001. yes, these numbers r fact but sum things havent been taken into consideration. for example, u dont compare prices w/today w/prices 20, 25 yrs ago. u dont say "wow, shoes only cost $10 bak then now it costs $50, so expensive." statements like these r illogical as the person forgot to factor in inflation. the same factor [not inflation tho] should b applied to comparing album sales w/the past.
4) i never said that ai, BoA, koda, mika etc. r coming close to wut ayu has acheived rite now or even in the near future.
5) i never said Best~first things~ wouldve sold more than A BEST. all i said was that it was unfair for us to compare these 2 best albums simply looking at the number n not factoring other effects. the intent was to say that the gap btwn the 2 albums wouldnt have been as much as this 1 if kumi's best was released in 2001 [which u have already shown in ur example]
6) yes, BoA's VALENTI sold 184k during the 2002 oricon yr. but, it continued selling past the oricon cutoff date into the 2003 oricon yr. the number is about 17k so it isnt shown on the 2003 oricon top 100 singles chart. but the final number is shown on part of the site annabelle gave to us.

LOVE COOK number is only for 1st wk. 335k in 1st wk is good. mika's BEST only represents a 2wk total. so dont need to worry!

heres a numbers for BoA's singles:

ID;Peace B: 40,000
Amazing Kiss: 59,000
気持ちはつたわる: 77,000
LISTEN TO MY HEART: 180,000
Every Heart-ミンナノキモチ-: 84,000 [single release on the same day as the album which already contaiuned the song.]
Don't start now: 21,000 [wasnt promoted as a full single; only 1 song was in japanese. the others were in english/korean. it was called a "special single"]
VALENTI: 202,000
奇蹟/No.1: 129,000
JEWEL SONG/BESIDE YOU-僕を呼ぶ声-: 151,000
Shine We Are!/Earthsong: 144,000
DOUBLE: 82,000
Rock With You: 58,000
Be the one: 24,000 [the song was re-released onto a single from the album which was already released 1 month prior to this single's release. like LOVEppears=>Fly High]
QUINCY/コノヨノシルシ: 83,000
メリクリ: 136,000
DO THE MOTION: 170,000
make a secret: 54,000

But I took this things in consideration! I'm not comparing ayu albums with albums releaseds in 1979, I'm comparing with albums from 2005, 2004. I mean, I know compared A BEST with BEST FIRST THINGS but it wasn't a small difference. I mean, A BEST is one of the best-selling albums in Japan history, if BEST FIRST THINGS was released in a very good year for the japanese industry [and in 2001, problems with CDs being burned on the computer and people not buying, just rentings was already a big deal. Not as it is today, with downloads and everything, but it was] it wouldn't sell over 4 million copies.

The other albums are all from the last two years. I'm almost sure the prices didn't go up or down, because I used to buy Jpop albums and I still pay almost the same.

See above. I'm sure the gap would be big, because if it was a good year, Koda could sell 2 million copies but I dobut she would reach the 3 million copies. OK, I'm not God to be sure she wouldn't reach, but the prodabilities are very small: when Ayumi released her A Best she was the biggest, she did 24 magazine cover in two months, she was everywhere, she had lots of number one singles, she was doing concert in Domes. And right now Koda Kumi is getting bigger, but she's not close to what Ayumi used to be in 2001.

Does Oricon give the numbers of copies sold to singles outside the Top 100??

No, I was saying that if Best First Things sold two times more than it did today (1,2 million, 2 times more: 2.4 million) it would still have a huge gap with A BEST.

thats y i didnt say Best~first things~ was gonna beat/come very close to A BEST if kumi's album was released in 2004. i just said the gap would not have been as big as it is today. n i again, i didnt say that koda kumi will b the next ayu or come near wut ayu has done within the near future.
also, i said "sum members..." so i wasnt really directing at u since u took the factor into consideration, but sum members r naive n take these facts into their heads w/out thinking.

It's good said, however artists r for singing not for sexy looking. I hate when some singers trying to sell themselves this way. Koda Kumi was good in the past - now she's commercial and boring more and more. She can't sell more albums by her singing and songs so she's trying to pick up sale her body. Soon she'll need to take clothes off to sale anything and then she'll dissapear from music scene

Ours AYU have better and worse days but I hope that even if more worse days will come someday she'll not to degrade herself to Kumi's level

4th is really good in my opinion. I'm actually quite surprised.

Haha... if singers were only meant to sing. Thats why they're called entertainers now.
