I have heard Kuu singing It's a small world just once, and that was when I watched Kingdom Tour performance and I thought "okay, dunno what she's singing about but the music's good".

o.O Okay.. But you can't really say Koda Kmi, if that's what you mean. If you mean it just for "Kuu", then I still don't see how pronouncing a short u makes the actual sound any different from a normal u, from, say, Ayu. The way the JP always yell AYUUUU at concerts has that u that I pronounce Kuu with. They don't yell Ayoooooo. XD

Um was that directed at me? 'cuz I never said that I pronounced it as kyu. Lol ^^

Nono, I'm saying if the u was at the end. Sorry for being ambiguous.

I think you're mistaking the "oo" for like an "oh" sound. ^o) I think what jiarongisme means by "coo" is not like "co", but "cuu". Because, in English, if you write "oo" it's pretty much the same sound as "uu". I hope that makes sense.

Oh that's what they were mistaking it for? I was wondering why one wouldn't think "oo" and "uu" are the same lmao xD;

I don't think I've heard Kumi's version of "it's a small world" I don't even remember what the song sounds like -_-;

Oh yea, I know. :3 Where'd you get the idea that I didn't? :S I must be sounding confusing lol.

Yea in English I can't think of any words with the vowel like the japanese su or ru. :S I don't think you guys have it?

But I didn't know the English uu sounded the same as oo. o_O Sorry~ I can't think of any English words with uu. ><

Well regardless I was talking about the Japanese or Dutch uu. XD

@jia: Ah ok. ^^

^um in english, "oo" sounds VERY much like "uu" and for most of us, the "uu" is um...not hard to pronounce at all...I personally don't think anyone here pronounces it wrong lol Kuu is not hard to say.

There aren't really any words with "uu", except...vacuum, I guess that's the closest. But there the uu has the "yuu" sound.

btw, there are two ways to pronounce "oo" ex. "good" vs "room"and saying koo as kuu is...uh exactly the same...

And ew...I HATE it's a small world with kuu and heartsdales whatever. ew ew ew Just like Ayu and the snow white song.

it's a small world is horrible. >_< and the rap in that song was totally unnecessary. i wonder how venus will sound like. if she practiced singing her english the right way over like 1,000 times i'm sure she'd get it right. her engrish is offensive

I don't think I'm following this anymore. o_O

But..I wasn't talking about English lol (at least it wasn't my intention to say that the English uu doesn't sound like oo, because I didn't even know any uu words in English sorry if I gave that impression @_@). I think originally I was trying to say how I pronounced Kuu and then the confusion started. XD So getting back on that, I pronounce Kuu with the Dutch/Japanese u. XD There, I hope that's ok?~

I guess she did that song as it's in the same vibe as WONDERLAND in the Kingdom tour

On barks.jp they posted a vid of Kuu, it's a Christmas message...

http://www.barks.jp/watch/?id=1000023981&b=1m&pl=wm

Here's a translation of her message:

Quote:
Merry Christmas! I'm Koda Kumi. I will release a single, 'Stay With Me,' perfect for this Christmas season, on December 24th. This song is one of a girl who cannot forget a boyfriend she has parted with. I'm sure everyone has boys that they can't forget, or boys who they're still very attached to, so listen to this song and let it become your confidence(?) (I can't understand her. It sounds like she's saying Jibunjishin or something, and it doesn't make sense to me. I think it's confidence but it could be some other nonsense like strength or courage.) Also listen to 'Stay With Me' and let it open you up and fill you; bring you a great Christmas.

So, have a wonderful Christmas!

-Koda Kumi
