It seems like the police or treating them as nothing more than scapegoats just to "make an example" of them, which I think is a bit ridiculous... Of course they have to do their job, so I guess a lot of the blame for this blow up is the media. Nothing new there.
The police is not going to avex building to "prove" that what they did is illegal. They are going there to investigate. They have to. They have to know what went wrong. That's an important step that can't be jumped. People assume it's a waste of time because they don't really take the time to think why the police did this. It was not "to prove further that avex is at wrong", it is to reach a conclusion in what, where and why did it went wrong, which is a completely different thing. The media is the one making this a huge deal, and then people assume it's the police that is making mud out of this. Again, they are doing their job, and they should never be negligent of it just because it is causing the media to tarnish ayu's beauty. They shouldn't neglect something of public interest in favor of a celebrity. If you guys are to whine about something, it should be about ayu's PR team incompetence. If they had been careful and followed the rules, ayu wouldn't have been in this situation. Compalining that the police shopuldn't be doing their jobs is a little ridiculous. It's like saying physicians should neglect assistance to someone dying in an ER. Someone broke the laws and the issue has to investigated, and this is what they are doing, and it doesn't matter if there are other major laws that have been broken, if they have been assigned to investigate this specifically, they have to folllow their duties, otherwise such laws shouldn't even exist, if they can't be enforced.

So it's not like she got away with something like, say, public drunkenness or running around without clothes, if you catch my drift *coughSMAPguycough*.

Of course, anything for the ratings~
The police didn't go to avex building to bust ayu. They went there to investigate avex. Even you are assuming that ayu's amnagement did something wrong, so why are you also defending that the police is doing too much in investigating? They've done something wrong, and the police went there to take clues. Fair enough. The media takes this and portrays it into a negative light over ayu - That's not the police fault. They are doing their jobs investigating an irregularity at avex. If there's anyone to blame here is ayu's team responsible for getting these permissions, because they were incompetent and are now causing this to happen and the emdia for making such a big thing out of nothing. Thep olice should go on and do their jobs, people like it or not

You guys have to be careful with things you read. This article makes things look worse than they seem and they use terms that cause a little shock, making people to go too dramatic over this matter.

Exactly, that's what pisses me off about this . They're making this bigger than what it really is. Jeez, Ayu didn't kill anyone or smuggle illegal items into Avex. Just move along already, no one was hurt or anything.

Because I think it sounds stupid to say omg it's a raid~ two months after the damn fact that the crime happened (though obviously these things take time). I already said that I know they have to do their jobs, AND that the blame lies on how the media is blowing it out of proportion, but I also wonder if the cops are being as thorough in their investigation of other crimes that surround celebrities--especially if they're actually done by the celebrity his/herself. I wouldn't have a problem with their thoroughness on this matter if I knew they were doing the same thing to other artists who mess up (or whose people mess up).

I also just don't like cops in general lol. I have a bias showing.

I have a feeling the police are putting so much effort into this just because of Ayu's status. Come on, raiding an office over a road traffic violation? Give her a fine, drag her to court, whatever, just be done with it. Looks like they're looking for evidence to charge Avex with something criminal. Even if it's clear they didn't have a permit, the more evidence the better.

jeez are they still up in arms over this traffic violation ; ; poor ayu she doesn't need this type of stress. lol can you imagine? You can't travel anywhere without setting it up first with the police and getting proper permit. So that means she can't just wake up and decide to shop for shoes one day without alerting police and getting a permit because Ayu will draw crowds if she decides to just go out

I saw this on NHK news last night and had no idea what was going on (just that I wishing I was in Shibuya that day lol) so I came here to read about it. A raid seems unnecessary, but I doubt it was as harsh as the papers are making it sound.

I leave for a few days and then there is finally some news? It seems to me that the police wanted an excuse to raid (maybe some other thing they were after and used this as a way in.) Doesn't make sense that they would do this so much after the event otherwise. As for this being a "surprise" event - seemed like a totally planned PR event to me, including Ayu "accidently" leaking the news the night before.

Police on Thursday sent prosecutors papers on three companies and 11 employees that organized an outdoor event featuring pop singer Ayumi Hamasaki without permission in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward in April.

The companies, including Hamasaki's agent Avex Management Inc., are charged with violating the road traffic law in holding the 15-minute event designed to mark the publication of her book on the afternoon of April 7.

The event was held in an open space in front of the fashion emporium Shibuya 109, causing crowds to flood onto the streets.

About 3,000 people swarmed to the venue, disrupting the traffic on the streets, according to the Tokyo police.

All of the 11 employees have admitted to the charge, police said, quoting them as saying they knew they would not be able to get permission to use the road if they sought advance notice and would probably have had to cancel the event plan.

Avex had claimed it knew nothing of the situation because the other companies were tasked with organizing the event. But an investigation led Tokyo police to conclude that Avex was responsible in part for causing the trouble, according to investigative sources.

The police did not question Hamasaki herself because they thought she was not directly involved in the process of planning the event.

^

well it wasn't her fault, as I thought since begin, these events aren't always planned by singers themselves.
