ugh! of course they have puffy and dir. how typical. Those are the only people anyone has ever heard of. the kingdom hearts woman, the cartoon network girls that sing all cutesy like for teen titans, and the band that is so cool among the goth people.
let's not get someone like ayumi hamasaki or namie amuro to represent japan (utada too of course), but i mean seriously...

Dir en Grey is a great band but i hardly listen to them, nor d oi really care about them. i remember watching puffy as a kid. never became fond of their japanese songs. . .and oh Hikki. such a lame list of representatives they need to add someone with more spunk (not that these artists arent uhhh spunky). as picaflor says its kinda typical. really hey just not have puffy there.

I actually think that those 3 acts are perfect for representing Japan: All of them have had some exposure to the West, they've had success and been in the business for a long time, and each one of them represents a different side of Japanese music: the kawaii side, the serious, solo side and the rock side. Congrats to all of them!

^I think those three are listed because they are well known. I read a little bit more about this thing and in the article it says that you can vote based on other artists from the countries too. All the ones listed on the site are supposed to be just "examples" of people from that country you may already know. If you hate Dir en Grey, Utada, and Puffy, you could vote for Japan based solely on say, Ayu or Namie.
They just used examples people who don't listen to foreign music are likely to maybe know. That way they don't just default vote for the US or something cause that'd make it uninteresting~ |

They have to focus on artist that are more likely to be known outside Japan. It's without question that Shonen Knife and Puffy are everything but "the hip thing" in Japan, but at least SOME Americans have heared of them. How many would know flumpool? Miliyah Kato?

I want you guys' opinions: How much do you think one of the signed balls Utada through out during In The Flesh would sell for? I'm absolutely desperate for cash... and I probably won't sell it, but just out of curiosity... if I WERE to sell it, what do you think I'd get? It's from the NYC show and in perfect condition. |

Oh my, you are soooooooo lucky. I was at the first row in the London show and she didn't throw any, she just threw all of them to the back of the hall X_X
Regarding your question, I think that the signed balls may be one of the rarest Utada items, since it's made by her, each one is different (even if she did the same drawing over and over for the same show, it's gotta have differences between them). I guess that you wouldn't have trouble to sell it for more than 400 $... it's like Ayu's NOTHING FROM NOTHING EP, some people sell it at like 2000 $ xD crazy and overpriced, but if people buy it you can do it, I guess. the trouble would be in proving that it's the real thing and not falsified. |

Yeah $400 is too much, I've seen a signed photograph (from the Sephora in-store events) on eBay and it was quite cheap. under $100 definitely.
But even IF you get to sell it for $400, don't !!! It's like the rarest item ever! Again, I've got all 3 A BEST's first press and signed, imagine for how much I could sell those? But I won't !! Be sensible!  You'd better sell your TV or something (I realize this post is pretty useless but for gods sake, she was on the 3rd page we can't let that happen) |

^yeah, but a signed autograph is different. You can get one of those easily (I mean, in a signed event or something). The thing is that those balls were hand drawn by her, with a desing made by her, for a very exclusive tour to begin with, and the number of balls around there are really scarce.
She is not going to get a ball, sign it and draw a Kuma on it anytime soon, so I think the price would be something around that. |
