Look a few pages back; avex cancelled all the overseas orders for the FC edition for Koda Gumi members...something to do with the licensing for Urusei Yatsura and the Suki dex3 PV that’s now being included with the DVD

So yeah. No FC version of re(CORD) and no FC version of this release for Koda Gumi members I’m afraid.

Normally you can but they put an AMV of an old anime called Urusei Yatsura with Kuu's Suki de x3 playing over it on the FC edition DVD/Bluray and don't want to pay for legal international distribution rights for it so they cancelled all preorders of that edition. Apparently it was the series' 40th Anniversary and Kuu's a fan of it.

Kuu's 2020 FNS Kayousai performance might be pretaped in advance since so many artistes will be performing on both dates of the music event which Fuji TV will live broadcast the show

Is that confirmed. I mean that that this the reason? I thought that was just us guessing.

I wouldn't find it surprising if COVID and all the extra handling that goes into international shipping could also be the reason.

They’ve made that item and only that item impossible to purchase from the Koda Gumi store. The licensing issues with Urusei Yatsura are the only thing that makes sense.

I'm fairly sure. I just ordered a bunch of merchandise from mu-mo a short while ago and had no issues with that so I'm pretty sure the AMV is the reason. It's the only thing that makes any sense to me anyways. The songs and other MVs are on the non-FC editions and can be shipped overseas without any issues.

Ah I see, thanks for letting me know. Damn, I was really hoping to get the FC edition of this release. That's pretty disappointing for overseas fans.

I know mu-mo does worldwide shipping now, is that the same for the mu-mo playroom store as well, if anybody knows?

Avex is in no position to drop Kumi and Ayu, or any act who can still tour and give them some sort of income. The only thing I could see it happening is avex dropping rhythm zone, which I'm not even sure if RZ is still a thing since its website doesn't work anymore.

Kumi released two effin expensive FC albums this year plus she held an arena tour and sold lots of goodies, I'm pretty sure she provided to avex one of the biggest incomes of the year lol Plus, she's selling less than she used BUT for sure she is selling more than many older solo singers, like Miliyah, BENI and such. I think she's safe. Saying her name and ayu's as if they were to be dropped was a clear bait.

I'd worry about avex having less budget for her next projects rather than Kumi being dropped, so I'm kinda expecting 2021 to be a year with fewer releases and more concert-driven, a la 2016. Maybe a residence/tour project.

I repeat myself but dropping an artist does literally never happen Maybe if the artist is in its early stages and it turns out artist and label don't get along.
For most older singers it is often their decision to go separate ways, turn independent or looking for another label.
Not everything is about maximum income, even if it is the biggest part. There are also friendships or some kind of other bonds betweens artist and their labels. Eve if it is just mutual respect 8especially after 10 years +)

It's not different from a company not renewing a contract, but I personally don't remember any case of that happening in the jmusic industry where it had an official statement or something.

I doubt sifow & mini still have avex contracts lol, maybe Suzuki Ami out of respect.

They’ll cut employees before artists, particularly the ones (mentioned in the article) who were around during the heyday. Their salaries are probably way way way higher than any of the new staff, possibly more than the new staff would ever see lol, just due to the fact that they could afford to give major promotions back then.

However, it’s still sad to see. But like the article mentioned, Avex failed to evolve with the times...

For instance, Avex should’ve monetized their full music videos 10 years ago but only got around to it in the past few for their more famous acts.

I have an acquaintance who works at Sony Music and he told me Avex is the least popular major label at the moment, and that they’re having a lot of issues. :-/ In fact he said “Avex is over” lol.
