I didn't get the impression (m)u was rushed but if she mentioned it somewhere in an interview or some such thing, then i can't dispute that =)

As for throwing in Life, i never really saw it connected to her 10th anniversary, more like MW. Life got virtually no promotion and hype so i feel it's legit to put it in her album. After all, an album is a singer's collection of works but i understand why some don't want life in her new album. Keep the 10th anni single as a stand alone, that's cool.

Japan's music industry is very single-oriented unlike most of the rest of the world so singles are actually quite essential in promoting the upcoming album. If you look at sales of certain singers and groups, their single sales exceed the album's. That's also partly why compilations normally consist mostly of singles and sell so well, because of the interest in the songs of the singles. So in a way, i felt ayu could have done better if she released jewel and together when as physical copies.

I would think ayu's release schedule during 1999-2001 was overboard. She was really overworked then. She slowed down to an average of 3 singles a year after that which is quite normal. Most artistes release 3 or 4 singles before releasing their albums, which is also usually on an annual basis. So i feel that ayu is sorta taking things a little too easy now? Yeah she's touring asia and all that but where was that consistency in coming up with songs on a regular basis? We're not talking like a song a day (high 5 actually achieves that but lol...) It's like a song a month. And all she has to do is write the lyrics and throw it at the production team, maybe spend a day recording it. Ayu's not lazy, we all know that. but it's starting to seem like she's getting lazy in coming up with songs. She's diverting her time and energy into other pursuits.

Then again, it's her privilege i guess. I'm not too happy about it but i'll just take what i can get.

Well, I'm thinking she would do what she did in 2000-2002 again. 2008 is really like 2000, isn't it? Mirrorcle World's release is like the unusual and no-pattern releases of vogue/Far away/SEASONS in 2000. And incidentally, Duty was released in September. A COMPLETE was released in September.

I hope she'll do what she did 8 years ago.

That is, to release a winter single in December, and then follow up with singles for the whole of next year, and then release a brand new album on the first day of 2010, just like I am...

Of course, I wouldn't wish to see her spam singles out like in 2001, perhaps 3 singles spread out in a year would be excellent.

And then, in 2009 she could also do some A COMPLETE Tour or something, to "make up" for the absence of an album in 2009.

But, it's just my fantasy!

Lol spam singles! I think what waterballoon proposed is brilliant. Some singers do that, release a compilation album as their annual album and then back to business in subsequent years. She can have sufficient time to plan and execute a mind-blowing A Complete tour and start afresh for a new album instead of writing and recording songs last minute for a year end album. I would really like that!

But my opinion is probably a peanut shell to avex.

i dont know why everyone is thinking she will be rushing things if she released an album at the end of the year, shes had so much time inbetween m/w, she could have been writing and recording songs but wants to give everyone a suprise for the end of the year? m/w was barely a new song, just extended interlude and life was the only "new" song of the year, all those new recordings dont really count as new material...

To me, from the Music Station talk, it really feels like there's no new single.
Because she's doing Mirrorcle World even now.
I think maybe at the very end of the year, there will new announcements..

But I think, really, Mirrorcle World will be her only single this year, because of those reasons. =\

But You and Depend on You were new compositions with new musicians, with new vocals.
In essentially, those were "new" cause they had to pay the composers and the musicians for it now, right?
So I think it's kind of wrong just discard Depend on You and You, cause they were basically new songs of an old one.
If you think about it, already, she has recorded 6 (including Green) songs this year, so its not like she didn't do any recording~~
If we look at the Mirrorcle World single, she had 4 newly recorded, no remix, songs on there.
That's more than her most recent singles..

Yeah, I do really want a new single... but I think, I can look back and say she's done so much already~

Well, we have not received any confirmation of any releases or anything so yeah... you never know.

Anyway, after reading the interview about the Secret album, I don't think recording songs come as simple as just having free time. She mentioned (in songs like momentum and Secret) that recording a song isn't just going into the booth, sing, and you're done. It's more than that... Most of the time a recording is 'divided' into different segments, so she could take a few days just to record one song. And also, she rushed for a few months to extend Secret to a full album. Adding about 5 songs took her a few months. I really don't suppose recording new songs is just a matter of having free time.

Also, do you think Ayu has a lot of free time this year? AT 08 started in April, and then she went to take photos for the calendar, then there was a-nation, then the Asia leg of AT 08 started, and she went from Japan to HK/Taiwan and so on, just so to perform at Japanese TV programmes. Free? I doubt so.

Actually, I don't see what's too wrong with performing Mirrorcle World often. This year is her 10th Anniversary year, and Mirrorcle World is the 10th Anniversary song. I guess it's just like how you would play a wedding theme at a wedding. And she looks like she's having fun while performing Mirrorcle World, so if she's enjoying it, then I'll enjoy it too!

The thing people don't see by comparing Secret and glitter or w/e is that Secret ended that era for the Secret album, glitter started the GUILTY era and was soon followed by talkin' 2 myself. Mirrorcle World is the FIRST single of this album era, which is why it's necessary for her to release a new single before a one year hiatus...

but promoting Mirrorcle World so much still makes me think that it's only for A COMPLETE...

My friend did a workshop on recording studios in japan and she actually helped to produce some of Discography Xero's songs and no offense to our ayu but recording songs ain't so tough, at least not for the recording artiste herself. The bulk of the work is done by the mixers. The recording artiste will do a few takes and the mixers will take best segments of the takes and compile them into a song. They will also go through the vocals and instrumentals note by note to ensure it's clear and tweak where necessary.

Of course it's more than going into the booth to sing and you're done because the production team have to fine-tune the whole thing! My opinion is she recorded and then she stayed to observe and give her opinions on the mixing. Like how she behaved during the concert makings of. Yeah, people will give reasons for ayu on why her releasing schedule is slow this year and don't get started on the remix albums, extensive tour schedule etc. I just think that ayu is making herself much busier than she needs to be. She's not working efficiently or effectively. She busies herself with things that are not her specializations and sometimes you just have to trust your team. You don't do things that are not within your scope and then go "Oh i was too busy to write new songs." She's a perfectionist and i really respect her for that but nothing much seems to be coming out of it

So of course, Mirrorcle World will still be requested to be sung because this is her song for her year.
Of course, it is for A Complete promotions, cause the numbers of sales for A Complete when up when she sung Mirrorcle World.
Maybe Ayu wants Mirrorcle World to be the only single until her tour ends, and the Anniversary celebrations go into the last leg of celebrating.
Who knows what she's gonna to do after the Asia Tour.
And of course, there's the Countdown this year~~

I just believe that this is gonna be her only single this year,
Or until near the very end of the year, to promote something or other~
Of course, it's almost time to announce a new album..

Yeah, and we don't know if she re-records things, as she did with poker face, or even re-writes.
It takes a few months for the composers, the mixing, etc.
Cause, yeah, she's given the melody before, right? But then composers have to come up with a good composition after.
And she might want to change the composition, or even the melody.
Like with M, she was not satisfied with the way the song was turning out in the beginning.
Maybe she just hasn't been satisified with songs coming her way lately. ahaha~

Anyways, whatever's the case, nothing we can really do but wait and see~
I think if she waits longer, people will want it more and more.

Yeah, I've been wanting to see that from Ayu for a long time. In some ways though I consider Loveappears and Rainbow to be great concept albums - they may not tell a specific story or anything, but the atmosphere and sound of those albums come across as a concept album - especially Loveappears.

^ Yeah I definitely agree about LOVEppears. Before I caught onto the "themes" in each song, or at least how they create sort of the same picture or story, I didn't think much of the album, but now I really love it

I almost want to say that if she DID do another mini-album that it should have tracks named after colors of the rainbow, and each song could be musically styled off of those colors--and then, idk, RAINBOW could be the secret track resung or in acoustic version or something.
