Are you talking about sales? 'cause she is the first one to have 20,000,000 singles sold? it count nothing 'cause she has 40 singles, Namie has 29 and 15,550,000 milion sold.

Seiko should show you how sales doesnt count since she has consecutives no.1 but she did 62 singles in total! and yet how much in singles she sold? 10,000,000 lol

No one can replace somebody, every queen of jpop that were on top did things other cant do, there is no queen that can be better in everyways to all the others, and lets say Ayumi never had a throne for it since Hikki isnt as fashionable or super diva like her but Hikki sold much better than Ayu, only she doesnt want to be much under the spotlight.

EDIT:
Also Ai Otsuka isnt one that stays on the spotlight like Kumi or Ayu, and maybe if she would be that would be very dangerous for Kumi just as much as Hikki would be a problem for Ayu lol.

Well, now that the CNN Talk Asia had been aired, there's a WHOLE new light on this situation.

First of all, Ayumi really doesn't care if she's queen or whatevers. She can be Princess, Joker, Servant, as long as people will listen to her. She has this feeling where it's the people's decision of who they want to listen to; they're not being forced to listen to her. Listeners are able to choose which music they like to listen to on their own, by themselves. They decide for themselves what kind of lyrics they love the most. (Ayumi Hamasaki)

There should be no falsehood in my music. My songs do not have any lies in them. How can I put this... I always believe that in music, the truth will always prevail. I'm confident that as long as I sing no lies, and stay truthful to my fans, they will understand my music and continue to buy it. The reason that I am able to sell my music is because my fans understand me and feel empathy for what I sing to them. (Ayumi Hamasaki)

That above quote shows how she feels about her music, and how she thinks she sells her music. To her, promotion and perfomances aren't everything. As long as she stays truthful, and doesn't fabricate lies, she will continue to sell either the same/more than others. Basically, for most artists, it's the promotion that sells, not the song itself. Many come with goodies, surreal PVs, or unusual styles. But for Ayumi, it's always her lyrics that reach fans' hearts and entice them to buy her products. Nothing else, in her opinion, can help her more than the truth in her lyrics.

I'm only myself. I can be nobody else other than me, I am who I am. I don't know the difference between myself and any other person or artist and I can't compare because I was never that person. Listeners are able to choose which music they like to listen to on their own, by themselves. They decide for themselves what kind of lyrics they love the most. It's very hard for me to compare myself to other singers & performers. I've never done that, and I would never like to do it either. I only know about myself. (Ayumi Hamasaki)

Okay, this one shows us that she DOES NOT and WILL NOT compare herself to other artists, as these tabloids do. Ayumi is ONLY Ayumi, and CANNOT be compared with other artists. It's as if comparing red and blue, apples and oranges, or day and night; in essence, they are the same, yet at the same time, they are TOTALLY different. All have the same groupings (colors, fruits, time, musicians), but many have extreme differences that make it almost impossible to defend one side with a flawless arguement. So basically, to compare Ayumi to Ai, Koda, Namie, or anyone else makes it a futile debate and pointless in the first place.

So now, hopefully we can take these articles a little less seriously (including I), and know that these speculations are INDEED speculations. Nothing can be argued, nothing can be defended. All opinions with very rough facts or other opinion as arguement.
