Yeah, I don't think the performance would have been as strong without the blood...I'm just really surprised they allowed in on TV...because those kinds of things usually are deemed inappropriate...

but I suppose like a lot of stuff went into it, like time slots, and percentage of viewers of certain ages, etc.

@zoomzoom: yeah, TV here is very conservative. That's why it always boggles my mind when I see people here who think that anything goes on our television lol Very much the opposite.

Anyway, I watched the performance again and it's amazing. Her vocals are amazing. I, like Calico, wish she would capitalize on that more.

who said she would suck if she didn't go to the extreme..?

the blood was important to the performance, so yeah, it wouldn't have been as strong if it wasn't included.

? No I said, I don't think the performance would have been as strong without the blood.

I love Lady Gaga, and I think she would be awesome if she just stood there in front of a microphone.

Please read my posts and try to understand them from more points of view, and what I'm actually trying to say. Thanks.

to me it seems that they like her only because she goes to the extreme
so if you take out extreme whats left?

will the performance suck if the blood wasn't there?

i read somewhere that shes famous because how stupid she represents herself
i never see anyone (not talking about here) talking about her music

i have always liked lady gaga's music but i couldn't stand her image. so there goes that whole "only famous for going to extremes" theory

the performance wouldn't suck if you took away the blood, but it wouldn't make sense. she was dying, how are you supposed to portray that without using fake blood?

umm her music is very popular, almost all of her singles have hit #1 on the charts. i've only seen people on the internet talking about her fashion, most people don't give a damn if she's weird.

I thought the same thing! Didn't that sting or something!? She really kept a straight face.

I was more surprised when she hung herself than with the blood, that really freaked me out.

Honestly, she probably is notoriously famous for those reasons. (fashion, crazyness, etc)

However, I think she's famous because she's awesome, and she's capitalizing on an area of music that has been kind of gone from our industry.

A lot of my friends do like her music, but seriously hate her, like peanut...so I don't know.

Any publicity has been good publicity for her, I think.

I personally don't think the performance would have sucked without the blood...there are more ways to die on stage, and I think no blood would have been fine, but the blood definitely adds a sort of WOW factor and edge.

From a performer's standpoint, and an artist's one as well...the performance is stronger with the blood, because it invokes more emotion.

On another note...you know I've been looking at her pictures and stuff...and seriously, I don't think she would look so bad, if she wasn't always making weird/funny faces. She's always doing something with her face...even in her performances.

Her and Ayu need lessons in being natural lol

I have a friend who likes her but thinks that she will be forgotten pretty soon. He's like "She'll just be a one hit wonder" but she's had 3 #1s in a row in the US, and that's pretty big... not even all of Beyonce's songs reach #1 on the charts. But I think he means that this album will be her only successful one.

I wonder if that will be true though. How long will she be able to dish out so much shock value?

oh, i don't hate gaga. i think she is very talented when it comes to making music and her voice is pretty good (when she tries, lol) and she seems like a really hilarious person

she was really entertaining during the vmas and i'm always looking forward to her new music. i don't consider her one of my idols though and i can see why people dislike her.

oh no, I just meant, that you guys don't like her image, which is the problem my friends have as well. Sorry!

I think she's really funny too...which is why I try not to take her so seriously. She's always making me either laugh, or be amazed by her vocals lol

The peformance, like the music video, is inspired by Princess Di, the paparazzi and fame literally killed her.

Yeah she can sing hella great live. But when she sang Paparazzi, she sang it all over the place and it was hard for me to sing along. And that's what I felt the performance was missing, attachment. It was too showy and it was hard to feel connected to her performance. I know it was suppose to be a theme and thus she couldn't really connect with fans but one of the things I like best about her is how much she loves her fans and I would have rather had seen her interact with them than hang up her bloody body on stage.

[p.s.]

I love how when she starts bleeding and everyone gasps she looks down quickly to check and make sure it's because she's bleeding LOL.

I don't know where you're from, but if you've ever watched European TV for example, you'll know why American TV is considered conservative. It has become more lenient in recent years, but still.
