I think it might be interesting to see an Ayu facebook. It'd be nice to have all of her photos in one place as opposed to having to re-find links or dig through plixi... she takes the best pictures and it's one of the main reasons I decided to follow her on twitter, cause god knows I can't read her tweets and Google translate's useless...

But FB also lets you post more than just 160 character blurbs, so she could maybe post longer updates or thoughts...hopefully some in English :3... I know that's all kind of what TA is for, but come on, why does Japan have to get all the love? -_-

Now there is also something similar to FB called mixi (http://mixi.jp/), but I found out that you need a JAPANESE phone number, and for that, it is UNAVAILABLE outside of Japan, which most of us are...

I don't know if FB is so popular in Japan as in other countries. Maybe they use mixi D: as Bigtop stated.
And I agree with some of you, even if it sounded exciting I don't know if it could works for Ayu being on FB too.

mixi is nowhere near as widespread as FB though. isn't FB the most visited website now?

i think i have a mixi actually, but never actually set it up. i think they closed it to foreigners somehow lately though.

I've seen plenty of Japanese people on Facebook, so it wouldn't be a big deal if Ayu joined up. But it might all be too confusing for her. Hey her hubby has a Facebook, he could teach her how to use it.

Yeah, mixi is sort of like Japan's FB, but because it's closed to foreigners, most of the people on there are Japanese. Some of my Japanese friends have FB, but only because they have foreign friends they want to connect with. If not, mixi is probably more than enough for them. That's why I'm excited about ayu setting up a FB page, because it means that she wants to connect more with us overseas fans. ^^

Well, yes. That's the purpose of Ayu putting an official Facebook page - trying to reach and attract potential Ayu fans outside Japan.

I get Ayu having an "official" facebook page. But for her personal use? Sounds a little unreasonable to me... I don't know. I mean she has twitter where she can reach out to us personally but on facebook if she makes a comment, there will be MILLIONS of fan comments to follow (maybe even some haters). But if it were there to make official announcements and the occasional comment, I could see it happening. I don't know, I guess it doesn't hurt to see it play out.

I love the pics she's been uploading of her puppies. I don't think it had anything to do with me, but I was asking her all night (well, in 3 tweets) plus I tweeted her again this morning, asking if she would upload a pic of Marron, and she did just now. But she didn't reply to me, so I assume she was going to upload at some point anyway. XD

You guys remember how much drama there was when she started using Twitter? Imagine how bigger it would become if she joined Facebook then?

I don't think it's a good idea at all.

Twitter and TA is plenty enough.
