From reading her letter to overseas fans I figured it was her decision. And also because of Mannie's comment around their anniversary where he tweeted "Thanks for all the anniversary messages. 1 great year. 2012 here we come"

Can't have been that great a year if he knew the divorce was coming.

I don't think either of them were trying to hint anything until the press release was made. The only hints she gave were without trying through interviews throughout the year. But then they would go back to their tweets for a day and make it difficult to tell anything was wrong.
