Namie Amuro To Provide Theme Song For "NEWS ZERO"

Namie Amuro will be providing the theme song to the NTV news program "NEWS ZERO".

The theme song is titled "Finally". It is the title track off of Amuro's upcoming complete best-of album meant to commemorate the singer's decades as an artist.

The announcement was made during the September 26 broadcast of the news programme.

"I am a big fan of Amuro and frequently go to her live shows, so I am very happy that she is in charge of the theme song for 'ZERO'. Because the song title is 'Finally', I'm sure this is an important song to Amuro. It is an honour that the song and this programme will be linked together," Merei Kiritani, an actress serving as a newscaster on the programme, said.

"Finally" will begin being used as the theme song for "NEWS ZERO" on October 2.

Namie Amuro Asks For Privacy Following Retirement Announcement

Namie Amuro is pleading with the media to respect the privacy of her family and staff following her retirement announcement.

In a post made on social media, Amuro thanked people for their support, but warned that coverage of those close to her has become excessive.

"There has been excessive coverage every day from the media, including of my family members who lead private lives, from the homes of my staff, my workplace and more...Please stop the excessive coverage of my family and staff," the singer said.

Netizens showed their support for Amuro, indicating their desire to respect her wishes.

Amuro has been a hot topic over the past week following her announcement that she will be retiring from the music industry in 2018. While increased coverage of the singer is to be expected, Amuro hopes the the media will respect boundaries in their reporting.

I was holding out some hope that the fan club may continue on and still give periodic updates; some pictures; messages to fans et cetera, but nope. This is really a full retirement.

I had the same moment. But then, I was thinking, in the off chance that all of this is related to her contract finally expiring, it is possible that her official fanclub management/maintenance is also tied to that contract? So there could be a different FC that pops up in the future.

Awww man, there's something about that, that does make me feel sad.

I'm not actually expecting to hear anything from her once she retires. And if she's wanting a more normal life, it makes sense just to stay away from anything showbiz related - fanclubs, social media (not that she posts much herself) etc - so her fame gradually dies down.

I am now starting to think that Finally is the last album and we don't have another studio album on the way.

As a fan, I'm sad. However, Namie leaving kind of leaves an empty seat at the top. She's one of the only female singers that has gotten so many tie ins, magazine appearances, etc. in the past few years. So I do wonder how that will change. If Avex will try to bring a newer act into the spotlight, of if magazines and drama tie ins will go to much less known people, or to men.

Obviously there are other girls out there, but in terms of respect and idolization, Namie is one of the last...
