Are you crazy? It was a huge hit. It made her top the 2006 favorite artist list by Oricon for the first time in 2 years, it is the best-selling digital single ever (7 million copies sold) and digital + physical sales equal 7.7 million sold making it the best-selling single ever. So yes, Flavor of Life was a giant huge hit.
I wasn't talking sales wise, with the Tie ins and hikki's divorce I wouldn't count it as hit because those are the reasons it sold like it sold.

Btw about 5,000,000 or more from those downloads are just ringtones...
If it would be the best selling single then it needs to sell physically a lot more and this is not a FOL thread xD.
I liked the single but it wasn't really a special song like Passion. If Passion would have those marketings it would sell like FOL its sell were huge yes, but it's not a big surprise. I'm happy that it had such a great marketing that it could give hikki good sales.

I'm glad that ayu is #1 for 3 days ^_^ only 3 days left.

#1 - Ayumi Hamasaki: 23,533 + 15,835 + 7,894 = 47,262 (x 1.75) = 82,708
#2 - Porno Graffitti: 18,068 + 15,055 + 6,173 = 39,396 (x1.75) = 68,768

I think that ayu will get the #1 weekly...

oh well, it's all about the music in japan... >__>

it's not like ayu isn't promoting her stuff in any way one can come up with (movie tie in of glitter/fated). and people don't buy stuff because someone got divorced. "ohmigosh, I'm so sorry for her, I'll buy that single, so she feels better." - this kind of crap. x_x

Good that she has a comfortable lead now.

xx->01->01->01 - Hamasaki Ayumi - glitter/fated - 23533 + 15835 + 7894 (x1.75) = 82,709
---
xx->01->01->01 - L'arc~en~Ciel - SEVENTH HEAVEN - 23771 + 15993 + 8461 (x1.75) = 84,394 (Weekly: 111,969)

So how can you explain the crazy raising up of its sales after the divorce was annouced? a coincidence?

CMs/Movie tie ins aren't as good as drama tie-ins specially the drama that FoL was in, it had a great ratings.

Thanks ayu_fan929 I updated awhile ago, but thank you very much ^_^.

Well the day that she announced her divorce was also the day HYD2 was airing, so it was like a combined event.

My post was more of a comparison with L'arc though.

Sorry ayu_fan929 with the comparison of sales thingy I meant to the post that was above it ^_^. Not the comparison you did, thank you for that!

About FoL thingy, if it wouldn't have the tie-in it wouldn't sell as it sold, end of topic with FoL, the single is good, but the sales are the hit.

Even though the sales are low, at least she's still got the #1 spot and it seems that the other artists' sales are reflecting the same pattern... She's still doing better than the others.
